  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi Everyone,

Wanted to introduce myself, I just started at KIA Elk Grove CA. Looks like most people in the area are not on the forum so I wanted to make an account to possibility help the community with any questions about inventory/buying process. Currently we have 26 coming in before April, all SX and most of them being SX-P being delivered first.

Previously I was the operations manager for Audi, but recently relocated from San Francisco to Sacramento.

You can also check out some of my photography work www.charleygfx.com or @charleygfx on Instagram.

How much are you charging over MSRP?
Our dealership prices them at $4995, from what we know and our customers that come in from the area. We SHOULD the lowest in Northern California.

Sounds like a great time to be a Kia dealership employee. Great vehicle and unprecedented demand.

Capitol Kia and hilltop Kia sell at MSRP!
As I am new to car sales and the area, I could be wrong. However, our customers tell us that most dealerships say things just to get people in the door. Unless you have personally seen it on paper, I doubt any dealership is actually not marking them up. Or their write up is to show you no write up, inflating the number from actual invoice.

Again I could be wrong, if I am; I loved to learn.

Yep! The more these clowns keep marking them up, the more orders you will get to take and ship to California!

Tagging on extra $$$ to the MSRP or needless overpriced dealer packages (paint sealant, nitrogen tire fill, pin striping, window etching) aren't going to earn you any kudos around here.

We ❤️ shipping to Cali 😁

Welcome. In order to sell Tellurides here, you need to be an Authorized Dealership. Please update your email address to your dealership email address and let me know.

Thank you

Not to hate on dealerships, as I do understand that's their way to earn money and put bread on a table. And yes, they are taking advantage of this situation with limited supply - which again I can understand as we live in a free market economy. However, all this asinine and dumb miscalculation by Kia that greatly underestimated demand is really making a lot of people angry including me of course. What this inflated prices will eventually do is only multiply hate towards Kia and poor management of this situation. Remember the catchy Kia slogan on tv adds "we won't be undersold" lol - that's exactly what is happening with all latest models. There's already a new one coming 2021 Sorento - that will be in even bigger shortage as they have 3 row hybrid version. IMHO this is a disaster on almost all major fronts for Kia. People just can't go into dealership and buy recent models at msrp. Those smart ones on forum and lucky ones don't really count, as I'm talking in general on a larger scale. 4-5 months waiting times are ridiculous too.
Anyway, I'm really hoping this circus with inflated prices and limited supply will end soon with Kia reacting to situation albeit too late increasing production to 100k units per year. Hopefully, we'll see regular msrp prices in almost every dealership by this summer.

Regular MSRP in a few months won't happen. Need to get inventory on lots - they're just selling too fast. It's a problem for those waiting or those wanting the vehicle, but others are getting lucky. So, it's just a matter of time. May take a couple of years for situation to normalize when a new model is introduced. Kia is providing a lot of bang for the buck. The Telluride made new markets... the Sorento and the Seltos aren't really market makers.

What model... You need to be more clear there my friend.

He posted a few messages on Friday... and hasn't been seen since. I think he realized that he's not going to find a lot of understanding and appreciation here.

I'm starting to see msrp already in my state, within 2 hour drive. I'm guessing 100k/year projected supply increase will help with this situation too. I'm hoping for a more or less normalized market by May/June this year. There are other models coming out and people aren't going to wait forever. I certainly not going to pay over msrp. If by June I won't find what I want on the lot - I'll venture into other models. Telluride is only good for me if its available. I'm already starting to look elsewhere due to mediocre engine in Telly in both performance and mpg wise.
Sorento and Seltos both will outsell Telluride. Same as RAV4 outsold Highlander (that sells 260k units per year to begin with). It's just reality - people don't buy that many 3 row mid-size SUVs. Compact ones are still leading in sales.

It was interesting going through training on the Seltos that compact SUV is the future of sales taking over compact sedans.. that being said Telluride is a beast and I don’t see this slowing down any time soon.. 6-7 month wait time tells me demand is definitely there and not going anywhere...

Yes, please buy something else—there will be more Tellurides for the rest of us!
