• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... For those with the LX and S models ... How is the non powered lift gate. This is really the only "must-have" feature for my family to go from the S to the EX. I'm wondering how much of a pain it is to put up and down. My wife, who will be the primary driver, is 5'2, 105 pounds. Is this going to be a constant bane in her life, or is it pretty easy to get up and down? Any thoughts from those with experience would be appreciated. My local dealer does not have any LX or S models in stock to go try myself right now.

Honestly it sucks. The hatch goes up kinda high. My wife is 5’0 and it’s difficult to reach for her. I can’t believe it doesn’t have a power door. Moss green S in NY.

My wife is 5'6 no issues for her, but when she's carrying something she discovers the lack of this feature!! Surely, a nice to have. I didn't realize this until I had signed on the paper.

So the height of the non-motorized hatch cannot be customized? That sucks. It really is useful.

You'll be happier with EX and powered lift gate for sure. EX with captains chairs will be arriving in November at some dealerships... in case that was a deciding factor.

I have not had an issue with it, however, I can see how someone shorter might have a problem. It opens easy and the inside handle makes pulling it down to close easy as well.

It's very simple to push up or pull down. Not difficult at all and your wife should have no problems with the tailgate.

I'm 5'3" and have no issue with it (I have the S). The lift gate is super easy to open and is very light.

Hi - I was at a Kia dealer this weekend and they also mentioned that EX will have the captain chair option "coming soon". Where did you hear about this and the November time frame? Captain's chairs are a must for me, along with the power lift gate. I don't want to be forced up to the SX model to get both of those features : (

Correct, you can now order as such. It is a $1495 option I believe. Called EX Premium or something like that. It includes captain's chairs and 20" machined wheels (same as S I believe). See Breaking News thread - but it's been mentioned in dealer threads. Kia of Muncie Indiana will be getting a few in November

: D My area dealer confirmed this now as well. I can order the EX with Captains chairs with the premium package! Thank you for the info. My earlier search didn't show those discussions.

Kia of Muncie has two of them coming in that are unclaimed and ready for n owner.
