If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi, I'm a new member from Raleigh NC (a native Raleighite of a certain age, and there's not many of us) in a family of four looking to buy a Telluride to replace our aging Honda Pilot. My wife and I have been admiring them from afar for a few months and heard how tough it is to get one so I guess we're starting that process now, however long it takes.

I like the SX package and my wife likes the mossy green color or any flavor of grey. I live about 5 minutes away from Fred Anderson Kia, but I've heard that Hendrick in Cary might be the best bet to start.

And of course I'm not used to paying full MSRP in general but from reading this forum it sounds like getting straight MSRP on a telluride is not a bad place to be? Anyway, great to be here and any general tips or tips on the dealerships here in Raleigh are greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us! :)

Thanks! I've learned a ton already. One question if anyone sees this though - how do trade-ins work if you're ordering? I'm assuming the dealer takes a down payment from you when ordering, and then when the Telluride comes in they evaluate your trade-in and make an offer then? Or something else Thanks again.

A little west of Durham NC here. Don't bother with Univ. Kia in Durham, they want a 5K markup and I am fairly certain Burlington Kia had a markup as well but I don't remember the number. I placed an order with Blackwell Kia in Danville, VA as they are selling at MSRP. They will also do the tax/tags for NC since they are right across the border.

I did contact Fred Anderson and Hendrick but can't remember if they both had markups? For me, Danville is probably the same distance as Cary so I just ended up going there when they confirmed MSRP. They were great in that they let us take one out for a test drive by ourselves. Really didn't want anyone sitting in the car with us with Covid going on.

Yes, they can give you an estimate of your trade in value, but they will need to re-evaluate the value again anyways by the time your order arrives.

Start with this thread on how to buy one.

I recently described how to use failcat in this thread as well if it helps.

I would like to purchase the SX prestige knight fall ; but don’t want to be TAKEN FOR A RIDE

Thanks! Yes I saw both links earlier and they are great, thanks for those. I'm going to try the failcat route since:

1. Our preferences are not that exacting except for overall trim level (probably EX-Preferred with tow package)
2. I live close to a couple of dealers here that according to some threads here have agreed on straight MSRP in the past.

Hopefully I won't have to order one but I'll burn that bridge when I get to it.

I went to a dealer here in Raleigh and ordered a N/P/T EX at MSRP with a $500 deposit. Dealer says they estimate anywhere from 6 weeks to four months. Thanks to this forum for the whole Telluride overview, what to look for, the options, what to expect for pricing, failcat, etc. I'll update this post when I get further news.

Welcome! I was on the same boat as you....replaced my '05 Honda Pilot EX-L with the KT.

Note that we still have the Pilot and it's still going strong. But I have to say that the KT is a joy to drive for our road trips and the tech/features are night and day in comparison vs the 16 yr old Pilot.

I ordered a Telluride SX Prestige, Gravity Gray w Nightfall / Gray interior from Hendrick in Cary at MSRP, it will be ~4 months. Fred Anderson has one coming in at the end of March, but they wanted $3k over MSRP. I'm in no rush, fine waiting a few months for a few grand. Anderson was more of a hassle to talk with, I found Hendrick a lot easier.

They told me ours is coming in late March. They had another dark moss EX N/P/T come in but it didn’t have running boards so we passed. So far our experience at Fred Anderson has been pretty good.

Husker, glad to hear about your Pilot. Our 2011 has been less than a joy and we’re ready to move on.

Congrats. I just picked up my SXP Glacial/Dune w Nightfall from Hendrick in Cary on Tuesday. It took six months, but Hendrick and Todd Adams did it well.

Hope you are loving it. Got a pic to share?
