• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... This may seem weird, but I've noticed oil residue coming from the holes on the underside of hood. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this? It's not a lot, but enough for me to notice and wipe it clean at least a couple times in the 15 months I've had it. Oil level is fine, and always changed every 7k (at 21k now). I can see the stains/where it pools on the plastic trim at the front of the engine bay directly under the holes, but no other indications of leakage anywhere else under the car.

Might be anti-corrosion stuff they shoot into the cavities where rust might form?

This is engine oil - I'm seeing the same - Initially, I put it down to shipping corrosion inhibitor or similar in engine bay. But, periodically when I pop the hood, I wipe down the engine cover and surrounding areas - definitely an oily residue - almost like a crankcase/breather type misting is occurring. It seems to be consistent, so not getting worse, but I'll mention it at next service as this is not normal.

Interesting. I completely dismissed it as some anti corrosion liquid, and just wiped it all away at the time of posting. I haven't noticed it since, and it's been about ~10k miles and one oil change later. I wonder if our two scenarios are the same, but would def mention it at my next service just to be sure. I really hope it isn't anything major. Good luck!

Same problem but it’s thick like gear oil
