• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Telly is a week old and I thought the smart liftgate wasn't working. Then I thought to try with my wife's key fob and it worked right away. Tried mine again and nothing.

Does the fob need to be replaced, or is there any troubleshooting I can do?

I also was thinking about installing the lock proximity sensor, and I'm guessing my fob wouldn't work with that either!

Is it only the liftgate button that won’t work or the unlock/lock buttons as well? Have you tried changing the battery?

Is there any sand or lint stuck under the button preventing it from being pressed properly?

Maybe bring back to the dealer to have them reprogram or replace the fob if nothing else works.

The key fob works in every respect (including the liftgate button) except it's not able to activate the smart liftgate function where you approach the back and it auto opens after a couple seconds. The other fob does work the smart liftgate.

Gotcha. Likely weaker signal emitting from the fob if it has low battery. Could just try swapping batteries between the fobs and see if the problem follows the battery.

One other thing to consider, does each fob live on a keychain with other keys or fobs? For example, your keychain has your work badge, and second car fob. But your wife’s keychain does not? Interference can be a variable.

Worse case, the fob that isn’t working has a defective transmitter.

Yeah that a good idea! How do you open up the fob? I'll try swapping the batteries.

Remove the mechanical key, then use it to pry open the fob side cover. Posted some example images in another thread.

Manual instructions below.

I haven't had a chance to swap the batteries, but now neither fob will open the smart liftgate. Double-checked the settings in the head unit, and it's still enabled. Think I may need to take it in.

Okay, it was user error! I had read the manual (I swear), but forgot that for Smart Liftgate to work, 1. the Telly must be locked, 2. you have to approach after it's been locked for 15 seconds or more. Both fobs work fine under those conditions. So many rules! :ROFLMAO:
