• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I came across this while looking for some answers to another question. While I appreciate the intent, it seems strange that the physical key would be required to open the liftgate in an emergency. Thoughts?

I think you can use any flat object to release the lift gate, but I agree they should have engineered it in such a way that should not require any additional tools to use that release.

They probably wanted to avoid having the lift gate open accidentally if they used a lever or pull handle, and couldn’t think of a better design.
