• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hello Telluride Community,

My situation may or maybe unique but simple and have no idea what I can do at this point. I ordered a Kia Telluride SX FWD color Gravity Grey in August 2020 in which I paid my deposit. I finally received a phone call in December from the dealer there has been a delay on the FWD SX and should hear something in a few weeks the status of order.

Ok follow me. In January the dealer called me and says the people who ordered the same time frame orders are being filled but the difference is in the FWD SX not being filled. The dealer states they contact the manufacturer to find out what is going on. No response. We are going in February which will mark 6 months in which if they do get a response can be another 6-8weeks but I’d have a delivery date.

Does anyone have any options I can do ?? Anything??? If anyone had a similar situation please share because I’m at a lost.....

Thank you for your time.

You should read up on the how to buy a Telluride area of this forum. Read the how to order and how to track threads.

You can also get your money back, go somewhere else to look for a unit that is due to arrive at the dealer soon, or order from another dealer that has a larger vehicle allocation.

Which state are you in and which dealer? Quick check in failcat, there has been ~5000 SX AWD produced since 12/20 vs 691 SX FWD. Smaller number compared to AWD but I am guessing demand is lower. If you are familiar with failcat, search your dealer and see how many tellurides they are getting each month.

Thanks I never used it but will check it out. I’m in VA.

There were whopping 4 SX FWD made for VA dealers since 12/03/20. So your dealer might not be lying. 😳

I didn’t think they were lying.....I was curious if anyone has been in that situation. I’ll look to see if I can upgrade to AWD without losing my spot probably be best. I just want the car now my patience is wearing on me.

yeah, waiting sucks. Go to failcat and search for your dealer inventory. See if there are any incoming that interests you. Call your salesman and ask if that car is spoken for.

Thanks but using the site does it matter the location?

I would think the dealer you are working with will be your best bet. Unless you are willing to cancel your current order and buy from another dealer.

Did you put a deposit down for your original car? Is the deposit refundable? If so, search all your area dealer and find an incoming Telluride on failcat with your specs on it. Call the dealer(s) and see if the car is spoken for. If not, put a deposit on it and cancel the current one. It's more work, but you may end up with your Telluride sooner.

Let me just start by saying I ordered my SX Prestige with Towing (so AWD) in December 2019 and was told delivery may be April or May 2020.. THEN COVID HIT. My car finally was delivered to my dealer at the end of October 2020. I picked it up on Oct 31 and drive it home. And it WAS ABSOLUTELY worth the wait. So don't give up on the car. However as many have pointed out on this forum you may need to shop around with different dealers before settling on where you will buy your vehicle. I was willing to wait because Kia of Muncie offers BELOW MSRP, they offer Costco pricing. That savings was worth it to me to wait. But because they offer such low pricing, they have a long waiting list for orders. So start by calling your local dealers and see if they have a list of people waiting for ordered vehicles ahead of you. Then ask if they are offering MSRP. I doubt they are offering below MSRP at this point. Then start surfing the failcat website everyday to see if a vehicle with your specific options, trim, and color pops up. You may get lucky and find the exact vehicle you want at a dealership within a few hours drive that is up for grabs, ie, not ordered by a customer. Then you call them and negotiate and see if you are willing to drive a few hours to get a Telluride that you want, at a price you're want to pay.

Otherwise, wait it out with your current dealer. In the end, the critical thing is get the vehicle you want. No matter how long it takes. It IS WORTH THE WAIT!!

Or consider AWD. The numbers show what the orders are and fwd in a state that sees some snow isn't helping.

I ordered a sx August 2020, the dealer said i would get the vehicle in February.
So I called last week looking for a date for my SX to arrive, the answer I got was
March 23rd...I'm getting an SX w/nightfall. So I guess it doesn't matter if its FWD, or AWD
