Order placed with dealer places, but not yet in the Kia system?

In mid-later September I placed an order with a dealer for a 2022 Telluride. They took a deposit and said that we now need to wait to have the build entered into the Kia system. They said that this could take some time.

I understand that there is a huge queue once in the Kia system, but why is there a wait to have a build entered into the Kia system?
