If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hello all! First post and want to say thank you to all for the informative and entertaining posts. Thanks @StephenCantrelle for creating and maintaining such an awesome forum!

Now:
We ordered a GWP/Gray SX with no N/P/T extras on Feb. 5 2022 from Brown's Kia Manassas. We were told the wait time was nebulous, but that 3-6 months was most likely. My wife called today to find out where we are in the queue, and how many orders were picked up in KFOS this month, so that we could get a rough idea of how many months out we are from getting our Telluride. First, we found out that there was a GWP/Gray SX that was due to arrive next month, so we began to plan to see if we could make an offer on it. When talking to the Sales Manger, imagine our surprise when we were told that the vehicle in question was "ours", and that our order had been picked up with an ETA of 3/11. The sales manager was just as surprised as we were, but confirmed that the vehicle, "Had our name on it". He said they don't have a VIN yet, but would let us know as soon as he gets it. Jokes on him, as I will be checking Failcat hourly! The SM also mentioned that their allocations are filled quarterly, so we must have gotten our order in just before the cutoff. Just found that a notable difference from what I've read regarding KFOS on this forum.

Super stoked about this turn of events, but my question to you all: How did this happen in today's Telluride sales frenzy? Are we destined for disappointment, and have the carpeted floor mat pulled out from under us? Has anyone else had a similar experience? I've seen the numerous posts detailing pushed ETA's and 6+ month long waits, so I feel like this is too good to be true.

Thanks!

My experience was similar. Dealer said they had an EX AWD with the options I wanted "coming in". They did not yet have a VIN. I placed a deposit on 9/2/2022 to "make it mine". I kept checking failcat to check on a VIN that matched what was ordered. The VIN appeared around the end of September. I contacted the dealer to see if that was mine. It was confirmed that it was. Got a call on 10/9 that it was at the dealer. Picked it up on 10/10/2022. I guess that I was just fortunate that my timing was just right.

My dealer keeps telling me that pickups are random (I assume that means KIA allocates a dealership a spec'ed car and the first order in the dealer's queue that matches those specs gets it) so I'd guess that you must have just been lucky with your specs and that KIA allocated Brown a car for which you were the only (or first) order.

Thanks! I was thinking this may be the case. I figured the lack of N/P/T may work against me, but you're right, I must be lucky.

They earned an extra allocation that matched yours exactly, and the system assigned it to your sold order. I've seen this happen a few times, it's not common though

Thanks! I thought this might be something along those lines, but didn't realize I would get one auto-assigned, or picked up so fast. I figured that I might have to bid on it or something. Very happy that I seem to have lucked out.

I placed an order for an EX (Canadian) on December 10 21, it arrived yesterday Feb. 18/22. I take possession of it on Tuesday because of the holiday.

Which color did you get for your Telluride EX in canada?Did you give them.many color choices? Was it a high volume dealership?

Got another call from the dealer. Our 'Ride has been built, and is otw with an ETA of 2/28. IF that holds, will be from order to pickup in just over three weeks! Got our window sticker in Failcat, and I can't stop staring at it! We did pay a good amount over MSRP, but I'm glad I'm not waiting months, and can take advantage of interest rates before they get hiked up soon.

Lucky you lol, I ordered October 30th 2021 with no eta as on yet. Wolf grey prestige/night fall.

I got the dark moss, they are probably the largest Kia dealer in Nova Scotia but I wouldn’t say they are high volume considering the areas they serve have a population less than 100k
