I am in Southern California and every dealer I've talked to says there is no custom ordering; you have to deal with what's on the lot. Or they'll look for one like I want but it's very hard. Do we have any California members who can advise me? None of them have the package I want so I just figured I'd order one and wait. Any good dealerships? Thanks!

They lie (sorry to say) you will find most of the people on here who have ordered a factory build since you have a very hard time finding any on the lot, especially from dealers who will sell to you at MSRP or near MSRP on orders. The only downside to ordering is the wait... There are a couple of dealers on here that can give you the low down. There are a few dealers in North Texas that folks from out of state have bought from and had the vehicles shipped or have dropped in and picked them up and driven them home.

Check the "Dealer Inventory" threads in this forum. You'll see what dealers have available for you to purchase right now and which ones will order a vehicle for you. It'd be a 2021 model and pricing for them has yet to be announced. Depending on the dealer due to their monthly allocations from KIA, it'd likely be a 5-8 month wait til you'd take delivery of your custom ordered vehicle. GL

Depends on if he wants and SX or SXP, the EX seems to be able to come out sooner for most. Also need to find a dealer that has a high allocation.

my guess is they are lying to get you to buy what they have in stock at a huge markup. if you aren’t willing to wait for an order for several months, you won’t have many options not to pay markup.

I can’t speak for Southern CA, but I live in the Santa Cruz area and was able to place an order with Hilltop Kia in Richmond at the end March for MSRP. Unfortunately, I’ll likely have to wait until September for the vehicle.

Yeah, I think I'll be ordering. Can't find what I want and I don't want to settle for taking what's on the lot + paying $3,000 over MSRP. Looking outside southern california now to order.

Just registered to the site and am looking at a Telluride. Texted with a small dealership south of Houston (Ft Bend Kia) and the salesman said I am not going to be able to buy one anywhere. They had two show up on their website, and they said they are special pre-orders and not for sale. He said they are not doing any markups like most dealerships, and the only way to get one is to special order and it has a 6-9mo lead time. Not sure if that is accurate or not.

Somewhat accurate. What trim level are you looking for?

EX or SX (would prefer EX but would take a SX, don't need AWD and would like row 2 captain). Does it make a difference with a dealer if I can do a large down payment or just pay cash to help with cashflow, or does it not even matter?

If you are happy with an EX by all means get an EX Premium to get the captains chairs. We have one and we are VERY happy with it. With an EX you will save money and probably get an earlier delivery than an SX. We got ours within two months of getting it entered into KFOS. As to down payments and such. Dealer of course likes to do financing since KIA makes money off of it, but in the long run, as long as they can sell a car, they aren't going to care.

Good luck with your hunting. Oh, if you haven't figured it out from looking around here, look for a high volume dealer so as to get your order sooner. Also don't be afraid to shop around different parts of the country as you can get the car shipped... We have some GREAT dealers in North Texas.

Down payment doesn't effect wait time or availability. We have some dealers here who are happy to help.
I personally have a Everlasting Silver and Snow White Pearl EX Premium(Captain Chairs and 20'' Wheels) coming in next month that are available to put a deposit on. I am right up the street near Dallas from you if interested.

Just call or text me 214-205-6490

how much is the markup? I don't have to have it now and am ok just waiting for market pressures to eventually even out. But if is see what I think is a fair deal, I would jump on it.

Anyone know who is the highest volume dealer in Houston?

Quick look at telluride lookup site under dealers for Houston, Katy, Kingswood, and a few other surrounding areas, looks like Westside Kia in Katy is the highest volume with 70 Tellurides, of course there can be errors with the telluride-lookup site, so take it at face value.
