Overinflated tires on new EX?

Checking out all of the safety features and noticed the tires are all inflated to 48/51 psi. That seems crazy high! What would be ideal pressure for best ride/fuel economy? And since they are nitrogen filled, just release pressure with a regular air compressor/gauge? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. There is a great search function, which you'd find the thread below with "Tire Pressure".

Bottom line, deflate to 35 psi. Correct pressure is listed on your driver side door panel as in every vehicle sold in US. Nothing different if you have Nitrogen, as dry air is 78% Nitrogen. Good thing you discovered it... a decrease will improve ride quality.

Tires are deliberately overinflated at factory to reduce flat-spotting in transit. Filling them to spec is the most basic of the things dealers are supposed to do before delivery, yet many (perhaps most) don’t bother. It is truly sad that such fantastically designed and engineered machines are so poorly supported by dealers.

Picked up my SXP today. I asked the dealer
yesterday to be sure tire pressure was correct, and assumed it would be, so didn’t check before leaving today. See photo

Usually it’s bad enough when the dealers leave things out on the pre-delivery inspection, but in your case they claim to have sold you on nitrogen-filled tires. Presumably that would mean emptying the “normal” air from your tires and adding pure nitrogen, probably to the recommended specification, not 50 psi? If your tires were ~50 psi, that means they did nothing (and lied to you on top of it).
