• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I have a 2022 SX AWD and still getting used to all the features, but one minor thing that is driving me a little crazy is after I put the vehicle in park it slightly rolls. The only way I can avoid it is to remember to engage the ebrake before I take my foot off the brake after putting it in park. Seems odd to need to engage the ebrake all the time to avoid this. Never had to use the emergency brake on previous cars. Am I missing something in all the features to avoid this? Or Is mine doing something that others do not experience (honestly can’t recall this happening when I test drove but that was ages ago)

This is normal, you should use your parking brake every time you park. There is a P on it for parking not emergency.

Every automatic transmission vehicle will move slightly once you put it in park and release the brake. As you stop the vehicle and apply the brake, the car is surging forward (or rearward if you're in reverse) slightly. That's the position that you hold it in with the foot brake. When you put it in park, transmission releases that pressure and the vehicle is now in neutral position. When you release the foot brake, it will slightly move to level out.

I always put my cars in park and release the brake prior to turning off the engine and opening doors. I see people all the time hold that brake until they are getting out of the car, and it moves as they are in the process of getting out.

Another reason why it might be more noticeable is if you are used to driving sedans or smaller SUV’s. A lot of mass on this big and boxy Telly and a higher ride height and center of gravity.

My parked Telluride never rolls on my relatively level driveway. But when I park at a friend’s house where the driveway slopes down to the street, I notice that the car does roll slightly downhill till the wheels lock… setting the parking brake in advance avoids that unsettling roll for me.

Thank you Everyone! Lots to think about here — I’m coming from driving a Honda Oyssey (but even tho that was larger than Telly) - I always thought that drove more like my Accord - so maybe weight distribution???

When parking in flat spaces I’m going to take notice in what I may be doing -as 2 things I keep trying to get used to is gear shift placement (Odyssey was on the dash) and the key fob. I know I’m still trying to find my groove in those areas. Perhaps some of these tips will minimize this issue.
