If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Pirelli Scorpion Tire - Road Noise?

I've been driving my 2023 EX for a few hundred miles now, and the road noise seems quite high. It came with Pirelli Scorpion 20", and I'm thinking of getting something else right away. I found a set of Michelin Primacy A/S tires take offs at a good price in my area. Are others experiencing high noise with the Scorpions? Any thoughts on Primacy A/S tires?

Thanks,

That’s an expensive experiment. Go try and find another Telluride to drive before potentially wasting money. Not sure what vehicle you came from but it could have been quieter. I have Michelins and don’t notice road noise, mainly wind but I can’t imagine Pirelli’s being so loud that you want to pay probably 800+ to find out if it’s the tires.

Luckily, I found a shop that has a complete used set of Michelins for 250 installed. They look almost new. But fair point, it's an expensive experiment either way. I am planning to do a sound deadening project to the floor pan at some point as well. Which will be a lot more time and money, so I'm considering what a different set of tires might do and how much less sound deadening I might want to attack later.

Michelins on my Sx with 40k are fine, would buy them again.

Look up the tires reviews on Tirerack. You will discover that the Scorpions are indeed very loud and it's one of the most common complaints about them. I'm in the same boat, can't wait to get rid of them.

Luckily, the tire wear is also rated as very poor!

Yep, I did hear that tread life was low, so I could perhaps make a case that it's worth replacing early if I choose to.

My experience with Michelins has been that they start off very quiet, but they get much louder as they wear out. This was with the Michelin Pilot Sports, so it may not be the case with other lines.

True, but I find this with happens with every tire I have had.

When my original Michelin set wore out I replaced them with the scorpion tires and am quite happy with them. Found the grip to be better and don't notice any added noise.

Yeah, Pirelli are noisier, had them on both my cars and would not be my first choice when shopping for tires.. Also, to echo the others opinion, they are very close to the wear bars at not even 25k miles. That is unacceptable in my opinion for a tire that costs as much as a Michelin. This winter might look to change them over to Michelins. Of course you have the desire to try new brands, cheaper that have better reviews, like my brand new Yokohama's on my other car, but Michelin is number 1 for a reason, so stick with the best if you want a worry free experience.

I am happy with my Pirelli Scorpion AS PLUS 3 tires.
The AS Plus 3 seem to have very good reviews compared to Scorpion Zero.

I am not impressed with Michelins. I have owned them before and Cooper tires I have now are better.

Cooper is crap, try Dunlop or Bridgestone.

I have Pirelli Scorpions on my Chrysler 300 and I am on this page b/c they were so loud I though it was a wheel bearing!

I can't wait to replace them, waiting for a super sale or maybe at least get 10k miles on them so I'm throwing too much money away.

I know some places will buy the tires from you that you could use towards the purchase or new tires. Call around and ask.
