Question for 2022 telluride owners

Hey guys,

We ordered the sx wolf grey Nightsky last month and kind of having second thoughts now. This would be our first Korean car. I’m starting to notice more issues coming up, though I think most of them are for the 2020 models.

My question is how have your experiences been with the 2022 model. Has anyone experienced any of the same issues?

ie: vibration, windows cracking, engine over heating, cluster lights failing, random check engine lights?

All of the above issues you have noted have their own threads. You should read up on them and make your own reasonable decision.

Otherwise you're going have a bunch of people tell you they have no issues with their car yet by those threads you know there are issues sometimes.

Or any other variation of those terms. (ie our 2022). Usually owners address their problems with these opening/closing remarks.

As @SC300ES pointed out, all those issues have their own longstanding threads, and apply to all model years (2020-2022). No need to start threads for the same issues just because it is a new model year. Unless one enjoys complaining about issues that potentially already have a solution.

@Saj take everything with a grain of salt. This is our first Korean car after being forever Toyota owners and could not be happier. Lurk on the forum for a few weeks and get a general pulse for the ownership experience. Statistically, more people are posting to complain rather than sing praises. Having some third party validation like consumer reports and personal accounts helped push us over the edge. We've had the car for a few weeks and certainly there are super minor differences between this and the Toyota for us, but not enough for me to lose sleep over. Bottom-line, don't focus on the negative.

While KIA is a South Korean car company, I would not consider the Telluride to be a Korean car. It was designed in California, and 60% of its content is either made in USA or Canada. Only 35% is made in South Korea.

If you are worried about issues, pick ANY model from ANY car company, and look into those forums. Forums tend to attract people with issues, and I have not found a single model forum yet that did not have a lot of issues. Read them all and you won't buy anything.

We are long term Honda owners and the issues with the new Pilot talked us out of getting a Pilot. To me, Toyota/Lexus is still the Gold Standard on quality. One thing they do is they are slower to embrace change and new technology. So their cars seem to be higher quality but not as up to date. Look at the technology in a Toyota Tundra versus the F150. No hybrid, no turbos, no diesel, no engine choices at all. But quality, they are the winner. Tundra by the way is made in San Antonio, TX...

I'll chime in about Korean cars. Look at my sig. I first bought in 2009, and it's still my daily driver. No problems other than the rear brake calipers went bad at different times. Cheap and easy to replace. That's more about the weather and road conditions we have in the rust belt.
Bought our second one in 2014 and loved it. We only replaced it with the Telluride because we wanted newer tech, and a little larger vehicle. We never had any problems with the 2014 either, and my wife hated to give it up, until she saw what would be replacing it. In my opinion, the Hyundai/Kia group has really upped it's game since 2009. I bought a "bargain" car then because my car is always in a shopping center parking lot all day, and I will never park an expensive car all day long in a lot again after my Trans Am took a shopping cart into the rear quarter panel on a windy day. I ended up repainting the whole car to make it perfect again. Since then, it's always been econoboxes driven to work. Nothing ever seems to happen to those!

We’ve had Minor issues with the 2020 and absolutely none with a 2022

I'm on my 4th KIA and soon I will be ordering my 5th. Quality has never been an issue. Period. I've had more issues with past vehicles I have owned such as - Toyota Camry (unintended acceleration - SCARY), Acura TSX (taken back under lemon law) and a BMW 382i (nightmare from start to finish). Minor issue with my first KIA Optima but it was more of a bad design (steering wheel buttons were not well illuminated at night). I have an annoyance with my current KIA Sportage SX Turbo as it relates to road noise. Hope to graduate to a 2022 or 2023 Telluride to replace that vehicle.

I agree with this and i have a family friend mechanic that says the same about toyota/lexus...i feel like they only put newer tech in their vehicles once it's really dialed in...also the hybrid tundra is on the way and we may see a hybrid tacoma will be shortly after...i would like to see a hybrid honda ridgeline...the ford maverick is a very nice price right now but i would wait for the awd version...this would be after i kill my '13 subaru legacy w/194k miles...i'd really like a hybrid wagon cause i need more storage space but i don't want one from a high end car company...not that many wagons available in the US anyway

I’m slightly off topic, NCBill, but I agree entirely. I had a long conversation recently with a friend whose son works for Ford … would you rather buy a car made in the US or a car from a US car company? In the end, we agreed that my US-built Kia probably supported more American workers than a Ford built in Mexico.
