If you are talking about mist, this is normal. If you are talking about a downfall/pouring rain, that is not normal.Has anyone been having issues with the rain-sensing wipers on the 2021 Kia Telluride? I have -- they don't seem to be working (for all the reasons articulated above). They simply don't turn on when it is raining, even though the "auto" mode is set.
I live in NEvada...rain is a scarce thing...my rain sensing wipers have come on frequently...for no reason. I need to disengage this featureI also own a Telluride SX-P. My auto setting doesn’t activate at all; however, the wipers randomly swipe one time when turning a corner too. This is clearly an issue that Kia needs to resolve.
I had the same fix. Apparently, the harness holding the sensor was installed incorrectly, so the sensor was barely touching the windshield. The tech at the dealership fixed the harness and reinstalled the sensor, and it appears to have fixed the problem.I have a 2021 Telluride SXP and had the same issue many have referenced in this thread. My rain sensing wipers when set to “auto” would work sporadically in the rain and sometimes would turn on while taking a corner on a sunny day. Like some of you, I own a 2019 Stinger GT2....and the rain sensing wipers work perfectly.
I recently took my Telluride in for its first oil change and mentioned the problem. I even brought up the TSP and recall on them mentioned in this thread. They did check to make sure the correct part was installed.
Problem SOLVED!!! They found a loose connection on the windshield from one of the rain sensors. They fixed the loose connection and said the problem didn’t reoccur during their tests. I will test during the next rain I get here and will post my findings. I hope this info helps others on the thread experiencing the same rain sensor problem I had.![]()
I also have the same issue. Drives me nuts. Could be a fine drizzle and they’re running continuously on lowest int setting. Let me know if you find out anything.Ours is just the opposite. We have the sensitivity all the way down and they wipe too quickly. The auto wipers on the Stinger work wonderfully. You would think they would be the same, but they aren't.
I've had mine for less than two months and feel like mine are broken..they don't come on often enough even when it's at max level and you cannot see out of windshield. I feel like this is a. Known problemI've had my Telluride SX-P for about four weeks, and while I really love the vehicle, I think I might have an issue with the rain-sensing wipers. Maybe my rain sensor is defective?
Living in the Pacific NW, we get lots of light rain, drizzle, etc, and with the wipers on "Auto", and even at the highest frequency setting, they don't activate very often. In light rain, almost not at all, and I end up needing to manually bump the wipers knob up or down to clear the windshield. I haven't driven in very heavy rain yet - that's coming soon, I'm sure - so I'm not sure if it's just a sensitivity issue.
What's your experience? Do your wipers come on sufficiently often when on Auto? I'm wondering if it's just me, or if it's just the way the Telluride's sensor is. Thanks!
Agreed! They wipe way to frequently and in the lightest of rain conditions. And why the heck is there not an option to turn the auto wipers off and just be able to manually set the speed you prefer them to be. I don't need my wipers on when it's barely drizzling and there's not even enough water on the windshield for the blades to glide smoothly.Ours is just the opposite. We have the sensitivity all the way down and they wipe too quickly. The auto wipers on the Stinger work wonderfully. You would think they would be the same, but they aren't.
Agreed. On mine it takes a downpour before they sense anything on the windshield. I’m taking it in for service this month and will ask if there’s any way to adjust the sensitivity. Its been awhile for this thread but Ive been realizing how horrible this wiper system is.. Either too fast or not fast enough. I pretty much just push the wiper stick up manually and wipe the windshield as needed. I think this technology is a waste. Theres nothing wrong with the wiper stick with 5-6 different settings. Id rather have that.
Ours don’t work at all unless we are going from dark to light or turning a corner, they activate with light but never with rain at all. Very frustrating, we brought it in and they lazily shot water on windshield then shot it on another same model windshield and said it was the same and they couldn’t fix it, A KIA Dealership!I have had my Telluride SXP for two weeks and have experienced the same issues. It rained the day after I picked up the car from the dealer and noticed the wipers on auto would not sense the drizzle at all. Took it back to the dealer and they struggled to explain how to set the sensitivity. I have also noticed my auto wipers will activate in totally dry conditions when turning a corner. Anyone else experience the same issues?
You can have my wipers. They won't turn off once there are 3 drops of rain on the window!I've had my Telluride SX-P for about four weeks, and while I really love the vehicle, I think I might have an issue with the rain-sensing wipers. Maybe my rain sensor is defective?

Having had my Telluride ‘21 for about a week now we’ve had some rain and the auto wipers don’t function. Seeing this issue as a such a recurrence that it must be a quality control issue. My part number is 96000-J3000. A friend suggested to search YouTube for any problem solving and while I can opt to drive 65 miles to the used car place and wait to see if they’ll fix it, I saw one person who had a sensor not seated properly. Today i pulled mine out and lo and behold, I hella learned a couple things. Replacement units from Kia can be over $300. $150 for used and right now AliExpress has a Black Friday deal for mine. But then i learned on YouTube… these sensors rely on a gel to properly seat the sensor unit to the windshield, and that video gives a good explainer how the auto sensor works. Mine. Has. No. Gel. So guess what, no function at all. As for others, there shouldn’t be any air bubbles to mess with the sensor function. It’s easy to remove the access panel and remove the sensor cover but do it with plenty of light. Adding images of my sensor and windshield showing no gel. I’m sure that it would not cost much but I’ll probably have the dealer correct this issue.I've had my Telluride SX-P for about four weeks, and while I really love the vehicle, I think I might have an issue with the rain-sensing wipers. I agree with this, I find mine wipe more often and at times they are on constantly. When constant, they jump between slow and fast even though the rain hasn't become heavy. Very annoying at times.Ours is actually the opposite. I have it on the least sensitive setting and it still wipes quicker than needed.
