• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I have the telluride S and I have searched for other posts discussing this issue but could not find anything. I noticed when using the remote the hatch button does not release the hatch. Does anyone else have this issue or am I doing something wrong. Or does it just work on trim levels with power lift gate?

I have the same occurance. Is this expected where the hatch door doesn't release and pop out after pressing the hatch button on key fob?

I was under the impression that this was only on the trim levels with the power lift gate. On the S and LX, I don't believe it does anything.

Thank you. Ya I asked the service people at the dealer and they stated it really only works with the lift gate. All it does on the lower is unlock it and that's only useful if your aways away bc as soon as you get close with the key fob it will auto unlock. So basically pointless without the lift gate lol. Thanks again

Holding the hatch button (until car lights flash) unlocks the rear hatch so it can be opened manually. (At least one my LX)

I hate that the S doesn't have an inside release for the hatch. It seems so silly that it didn't come with one.

Not silly .. just plain cheap!! Very poor as 12 -15 year old SUVS have this feature on almost every trim level. Shame on you kia

I agree, my 2009 vehicle had an inside release. This is just ridiculous

Same here. Wish I could return it because having two kids and going on and out of my trunk a lot for production work is a huge pain.

yeah, this is super annoying. Although I wouldn't return it just for that.

I know sedans with non motorized trunk lids have inside release switches. All non motorized hatches on the SUVs I’ve driven in have not had interior release switches. Can somebody please provide an example of an SUV that does have one without a motorized hatch?

Standing behind my locked S for a few seconds with my FOB in my pocket will unlock the hatch. It won't lift the door but it does unlock it without pressing any buttons.

Voxx/Advent makes an aftermarket plug-n-play for the Sorento, Sedona, and Sportage: https://www.voxxelectronics.com/search/?ks=ADVLFTKS Not sure if it works for the Telluride yet or not, but on the Sorento it says it works with the OEM FOB button. I had a power liftgate in my last vehicle and thought I would miss it, but I've been okay without it, but if I change my mind, I would probably look for a plug-n-play option. If you aren't familiar with VOXX, it's one of the most well known aftermarket electronics companies. The brands under VOXX, include Audiovox, Prestige, CodeAlarm, etc.

My 2009 Highlander that I sold to get my Telluride had one.

So the Highlander did not have a power lift gate right? It was manual open and manual close? Just had an additional release button inside the car as well as the exterior release handle?

Nope, completely manual. Just a latch on the floor by the fuel door release that you could pull to "pop" the trunk. It would be open a little bit so you could just lift it up. I miss this every week when I am getting curbside pick up and have to get out of my car to open the trunk.
