• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Stupid question but does anyone know if the garage and gate buttons (homelink) light up? Every car I’ve owned and currently own has the little house outline lighted. When I pull in at night I literally can’t see the buttons and have to turn on the map light.

Well that’s disappointing. Every car I’ve owned and have now have this simple feature. It’s pretty ridiculous you have to turn the light on to find the button to push.

We are dealing with the lack of garage door opener. Our house has the original opener, so I'm waiting til the company that made it opens to find out what they suggest. We've always had the built into the car type. As for not being able to spot the button in yours at night, maybe a dab of glow in the dark paint or one of those tiny little stick on glow in the dark stars meant for bedroom ceilings and walls? I imagine after just a little while muscle memory would take over and you wouldn't need the indicator anymore.

I'm sure I'll figure something out, I don't know how they thought you could find a small button black button, right next to other small black buttons... in the dark.

Does the original unit have a learn button on the motor? If so, that's the best way to setup your homelink button.

It does, but it is really old with a model number that isn't listed anywhere so I thought I was in for a bigger ordeal. I didn't realize any openers with a learn button would work to program any remotes. All our other cars had the homelink built in so we'd always set it up and used it that way. I've ordered the little remotes that clip to the visor and will have it learn the code the same way as the built in button would have. Thanks. :)

None of the cars I've had with homelink have the buttons lit up (they've all been Kias).. I just know where to push now. We only have 1 opener so we use the far left button. Just slide your hand from the edge of the mirror in and you can feel the break in the plastic where the button is.
