In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I ordered my car in late June. The dealer informed me that it was picked up in the July KFOS allotment. Last week, they told me they have an ETA of 9/25. However, I still don't see it in Failcat. Should I be able to see it by now or is this normal? Just trying to figure out when it typically shows up in Failcat. Thanks!

2022 SX, w/ Prestige & Nightfall, Pearl White, Dune Brown
Ordered- 6/28
Picked up by KFOS - 7/9
ETA - 9/25 (has not yet appeared in Failcat, so no VIN)

About a month before your ETA,. Your dealer will have the VIN before it shows up in failcat. If they are proactive they will, will let you know right away. Something already seems fishy as your dealer should have had an ETA within a couple of days of KFOS closing which means you should have had an ETA in July.

I don't get the sense that anything is fishy. They just haven't been proactive in communicating with me. I only got the ETA by calling them last week. The dealer does have a great reputation. I just didn't know if it should be showing up in Failcat by now, but from what you said, it looks like I should see it in Failcat sometime this week.

There's hundreds of data points in the above thread.

Regardless, you may not see anything on failcat for another few weeks. The average is your VIN shows on failcat a month out, but my 9/4 ETA didn't show up on failcat until 8/19.

I got an message from the dealer my order was accepted by Kia on 8/2/21. Dealer called me on 8/19/21 stating my car was at the dealer. My VIN never hit Failcat. So, I guess I wouldn't put a whole lot of emphasis on Failcat in tracking your vehicle. Just my experience.

Can you post who your dealer is/was?

Preston Kia in Burton, Ohio. They have a good reputation on this forum as well. I've bought my last 3 cars from them and they've always been straight up. Family-owned, bought it as MSRP - no mark-ups. Good people.

Thanks for your response. I was asking @kgie1217, though.

I'm in the same boat. @cavante I ordered on 7/17 and was told it would be 6-10 weeks before they had any additional info for me. Today (8/23) I got the call that my ETA is 9/17 which is less than a month out. Still haven't seen anything in failcat.

If the dealer hasn't given you a VIN, then failcat won't have it. You can have an ETA without a VIN. A VIN will not be created until it goes into paint. The dealer will have it the day before it shows up in failcat. If they gave you the VIN today, it will show up in failcat tomorrow. A good read is the thread that discusses failcat and what it does.

I have the same thing going on. My ETA is 9/7 and the dealership still doesn’t have a vin. And failcat doesn’t show anything either. The dealer said they still have the same ETA so there isn’t a delay as of now.
