• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... In Dec the dealer told me that my order for Telluride AWD S in white will not be ready for another 4-6 months just to call me this morning, saying that the car is on the truck. When they told me it would be 9 months or longer for AWD S trim to appear, I needed a 7-seater and bought 2022 Atlas (in very popular trim and color). Now I have a dilemma, I want the Telluride but Kia dealer is not interested to offer anything competitive for the Atlas trade-in, and being such a new 2022 car none of the usual suspects are offering appraisals for Atlas online even KBB does not list 2022 VW Atlas.

My risk is that if I buy a Telly and cannot sell Atlas for a fair price ( man, VW does not retain value at all! ) I am stuck with two cars and I will be pushed to sell Telly, however S trim does not seem to command any premium to cover Telly cost + delivery fee, dealer fee, registration fee, sales tax. I cannot get an appraisal for 2022 Telly S AWD from usual sources as they need VIN or Plate to get the appraisal. Am I correct that AWD S will sell $4K-$5K below the out the door price if I am to sell the Telly?

Appreciate the insights from this great room.

I had a good experience trading my vehicle to Shift.com. If you have a facility near you then give them a call. They beat Carvana and Vroom's offers by an additional $2.5K for my car.

I don’t know about the Atlas but it’s safe to say that even S trims are getting offers over MSRP from buyers like Carvana. I just traded in my 2020 S trim in PA and got close to MSRP from the dealer. Buying at MSRP and with the tax savings, I got a pretty good deal overall. Of course, if you’re paying a mark up on the Telly, your position may be different.
You could also pull a VIN for a similar vehicle to your order, from a dealer’s site to get a hypothetical quote from the various websites.

Since you know what you paid for the Atlas, you don't need to worry about KBB estimate....you need to make sure you recover most of your money on the transaction. Like the others said, currently Carvana, Shift, Vroom, etc. offer bonkers money for late model vehicles, as they are all struggling to keep inventory on hand. You should get most if not all of you purchase money back.

That being said, you're more likely to make a little money by reselling the Telluride...but it seems like an unnecessary headache to buy a second SUV just to turn around and sell it, lose the taxes/registration money, and potentially make $1-2k (or lose $1-2k).

Hopefully you can get a decent quote for the Atlas and it would make sense to keep the Telluride - it's a much better vehicle and should be an easier sale in 3-5 years than any German car.
