  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... How do you all handle selling your current car if you order from out of state? Is there a good, online service that will come and get it?

We're a one-car household so I need to keep it until the new car arrives. Also, I don't want to finance the whole purchase price and need the money from my current car.

Has anyone gone through this?

One option is to drive out to the dealer you bought the Telly from and do a trade in. That may save a bit on sales tax as well.
I bought from a dealer only 4 hours away for this reason. Almost went with another dealer 10 hours away... and my plan was to drive my trade in out to them.

I would, but I live in Washington State and was looking at the Muncie dealer.

No one is going to pay you for your current vehicle just so you can keep it till you have your new one in hand.

I understand but am wondering how to manage the financing.

I sold my vehicle through Vroom. Fill out the estimate accurately and they come to your home to pick it up. Carvana does the same. Carmax is relatively easy as well from what I've heard, except you drop it off at their location. I'd recommend filling out the quick online quote for atleast those 3 and then see what happens. All offers are good for 1 week and 150-250 miles.

I posted my car online through Autotrader and just got a lot of car resellers offering me thousands less than what Vroom or Carmax quoted me. The dealership trade in offer was even lower.

edited: If you can manage to get a good offer from Carmax, the selling process takes place within a day.

You might want to try:
They are Larson Auto Group in Puyallup. They will come to your house, bring a check, and pick up your car. Their offer was more than Carmax for me.

So I didn’t use them, but I was impressed with the dealer in Casper Wy. White Mountain I think is their name. Do a search. They are at MSRP with like a $200 doc fee. Close enough to drive out and back in a couple of days.

Try Vroom and Carvana, they buy cars and pick up from your location of choice.

I think I figured out the financing part. I can finance the whole amount, then refinance with the money I get from selling my old car through my bank or credit union.
