In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... shiny black trim wrap?

How do you get the shift knob out? Or do you not. Just screws around it?

Engage the parking break. Put the car in Neutral. Press the side button and pull up on it, very hard.

Well, I have the SX trim and trying to get the film to lay into the notch for the lid is impossible. Thinking I may have to do an inlay but lining up the carbon fiber will be impossible. Maybe a matte black inlay I suppose with knife-less tape.

This was the stuff I used, with a heat gun and lots of smoothing and stretching. The material was thick not thin crap.

I just cant for the life of me get it to lay down in the handle for the arm rest at all. You have pics of yours in that area? I am just using a hair dryer currently.

VViViD Epoxy High Gloss Carbon Fiber Automotive Vinyl Wrap (2ft x 5ft, Black)

Mine is not perfect but maybe the hairdryer is not heating it enough...see I have a few flaws too!

My experience with thick material has not been great (maybe because I used a hair dryer). My cheap heat gun from Harbor Freight really stinks and can only be used outside. I like doing this kind of work in the basement in mid winter. Anyhoo, I may wait until mine is scuffed up and then wrap it with thin satin black.

Ya I did mine in summer with harbor freight gun outside. When you do finish it post a pick so I can see it! Good luck!!

Here is mine almost done. Just the wireless charger lid.

I removed the rear cup holders. Couple clips and a few screws. But pictures always helped me when I had questions. So...
1. Remove the rubber insert. There is a grip in the center. And you will have to push the cup clips in.
2. Remove the 4 Phillips head screws.
3. The lip I point out in one photo. Lift here. Little preasure and you pop it off on one side then the other.
4. The plastic removes. Then you have some pinch clips to start removing the flat plastic housing from the cups and piano black trim.
5. You have some push clips around the cup housing. Start on one side and move around the frame.
6. Remove the screws attaching the cup housing from the piano black trim.
7. Do a happy dance and vinyl wrap this bad boy.

You da bomb for posting instructions and pics!!! My vehicle is still a few weeks out, assuming the factory schedule and deliveries aren't postponed, so have this on my to-do list.

Warning... Do not stop and go back to this. Get everyone out and keep the area clean. I lost the stick on the back. Also. Hairdryer was not able to get it hot enough long enough to get the stretch.

Last night I decided to tackle the console wrap. I chose a matte grey the same color as the outside of my Telluride. I used vvivid, its from Canada and has excellent strechability.

I was going to do a full write up but time was pressing and I didn't take a lot of pics. So I will summarize.

1. You need to put the vehicle in neutral and set the parking brake. To remove the shifter handle you press the button on the side and with both hands pull very firmly straight up. For me the knob and the boot below it came off all at once. Trust me this takes a good pull.
2. To get the console cover off, use a blunt tool and from the edge under the console armrest (with it open) pry or pull up, I was able to grip with my fingers and get it started. Then it will just pop loose and then you can pull it a bit away from the dash.
3. I found it easier to disconnect the wiring from the passenger seat, but I am left handed. So start un-plugging connectors, each one is a bit different with it's retainer tabs. The harness is also held to the underside of the cover with little guides, just move it out from under the guides. NOTE: The connector that is under the cup holder has two screws in a bracket holding it on. You need to unscrew the bracket don't unplug that connector (you can't unplug it with the bracket in place anyway). There is a blue connector that connects to the USB at the front, it has an orange sheath on it. I found that one to be the hardest to disconnect.
4. Then lift the cover out and over the shift lever. If you want and don't plan to be able to finish the whole job right away, I suggest putting your shift knob back on, to do this, you will put it back over the rod and then give it a whack-a-mole whack and it will lock back into place. Then you can still drive the vehicle or at least put it in park for safety.
5. Once you have the console cover free, you can disconnect the bottom parts, there are a LOT of clips. Just go slow and carefully look at all the clips before you start yanking. It will come apart, just don't go man handling it and break clips. The controller and buttons behind the shifter come out very interestingly. The silver trim around the shift bezel is one piece and goes into the parking brake trim. It will come off the console but the part by the parking brake button would not un-clip so it takes a little Tetris skills to get it out. The front part with the lid comes out as well as one piece. I could separate the shiny part from the matte underside but could not get the cover completely off despite removing the two screws from the underside while the cover is in the open position.

Then clean it up and wrap away. One nice thing is all of the screws you take out from the bottom are the same so it is easy to put back together.

Reverse it and enjoy.
