• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi folks. I have a 2022 GT spec Telluride with a broken side mirror electric power fold mechanism. The part number for the whole mirror is 87620-S9210. It has the surround side camera function. My query is, will any other mirror part numbers work just fine (that include the side camera). Perhaps someone has the “knowledge”.

Failing that, has anyone successfully replaced the power folding electric motor that is within the mirror assembly?

Cheers

Hi Chris,

Regarding interchangeable part numbers for your 2022 GT spec Telluride with part number 87620-S9210 (which corresponds to the right/passenger side mirror), it's highly advised to stick to the exact OEM part number if you're seeking a complete replacement mirror. Different final digits in the part number often indicate a change in features, such as the inclusion or exclusion of the surround view camera (which is critical for your 360-degree camera system to function correctly), blind spot monitoring, heating, or the power-folding mechanism itself.

While there might be other part numbers that fit physically, one without the proper camera or wiring configuration for your GT could lead to error codes or a non-functional surround view system. If you absolutely need to explore an alternative, confirm with a reputable Kia parts dealer that the proposed part explicitly supports all the features of the GT mirror, particularly the surround view camera.

Failing a direct whole mirror replacement, the good news is that replacing the power folding electric motor within the assembly is a well documented and viable option for the Telluride, and it's significantly cheaper than a full mirror assembly. Numerous third party repair kits and replacement motor modules designed for the 2020-2024 Telluride are available online, with some specifically advertising the power folding mechanism repair.

This approach is often successful when the folding function is the only fault, as it avoids disturbing the delicate camera and blind spot monitoring components. The process typically involves disassembling the mirror housing to access the motor assembly, which requires a moderate level of DIY skill and patience, as there are many small clips and screws involved. Searching for specific video tutorials for the Telluride folding motor replacement will provide visual guidance, and this is a route that many owners, especially in areas where the full assembly is prohibitively expensive or difficult to source, have successfully taken.

Therefore, for the best guarantee of full functionality, source the exact original part number. However, given that the fault is isolated to the power fold mechanism, you can consider the motor only replacement kit, as it's a common and cost effective repair that preserves the essential, expensive surround view camera and other electronic features of the mirror. Ensure any replacement motor specifies compatibility with the 2022 Telluride's power folding mechanism.

Victor, thanks for the detailed reply. I was thinking along these lines. If I grab a used mirror from eBay. And then finding the wiring looms throw up fault codes or just not compatible.
More than happy dismantling the mirror. I was a bit concerned that needed to cut wires to the small electric motor inside. It does appear to be just the electric motor that has failed.
I will try find those repair kits and videos.
Many thanks.
