Smart Cruise Question

I've had my Telluride for about 9 weeks and am still learning about what it can do. Smart cruise is a great feature. While using it, yesterday, I wondered if the brake lights come on when the Telluride slows due to a slower car in front of me (and I have not pressed the brake pedal). Of course, the brake lights should come on in order to warn the care behind be, but I don't know how to verify that. Has anyone figured this out?

This same question came up on another KIA model forum and the answer was YES. Brake lights would have to come on otherwise KIA would be libel for hundreds of lawsuits stemming from rear end collisions.

There was a safety recall for the early Tellurides where the brake light wasn't coming on at the trailer if the SCC was being used. That was addressed here: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2020/RCRIT-20V436-4962.pdf So presumably the brake lights should come on when using standard or smart cruise control. Even though I don't normally use either cruise control when towing, this was very important to me because I carry a hitch mounted cargo box with brake lights integrated.
