Starting issues and other electrical gremlins

We have a 2020 SX with just around 6000 miles and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced these issues? Car will randomly not crank, 2 windows will randomly roll down about an inch and won't stay up when rolled back up, alarm goes off at random times, and the idle stop and go does not function. I took it to the dealership and they kept it for a couple of days and wound up replacing a sensor on the battery cable that was bad but within 24 hrs the problems started to reoccur. Im working to get a video to upload of the crank issues but basically the car just clicks and all the dash lights come on, I've uploaded a picture of the window warning that is on the instrument panel.

@bennyfresh might have the same issue as you if he was able to get a diagnosis from Kia for his car.

The instrument panel is supposed to alert you when you try to exit the car and you forgot to roll your windows up.





alarm goes off at random times
It’s the Rear Occupant Alert system. You can disable in the instrument cluster settings under Settings > Convenience. If your car is empty when when the alarm sounds it’s likely because your windows were left open or there is something stacked high enough to obstruct the motion sensor on the headliner in the rear seats.

idle stop and go does not function
This is very likely because your car hasn’t been driven regularly enough during the pandemic. Buy a battery charger/maintainer to charge it back to full, so the ISG will work again. Solved the problem for other members as well.

I haven't yet gotten a proper diagnosis, hopefully in a day or so. But my hunch is becoming I had a defective battery that wouldn't hold a charge? I could be way off but the symptoms my inexpert self noticed seemed like they might be explainable with that answer.

Hello, my 2020 telluride started with these same exact issues. I have taken it to the dealership twice. They have no idea why this happening. Was you problem resolved?

Did they test the battery? Any chance it's low? I know the idle stop won't work with a lowish battery (I forget the percentage).

Yes, the dealership checked it twice. I also took it to an auto zone to have them check it.

In the other thread with similar issue the cause appeared to be loose wire connections for the ignition/battery.

I seem to be having a similar issue:
This is on a '20 SXP with 17K, but I've had it happen a few times where with foot on the brake pedal, I hit start button and nothing happens. It acts like I didn't have my foot on the brake and just gave me the ON key position indications. I moved the shifter to around to see if that would help and back to park and still no start. Finally moved shifter to Neutral and tried there and it started. The next morning, it started as usual in P but there have been a few more times that it hasn't started in P. I've now had a few occasions where it also didn't start in N on first go and I had to keep moving the shifter until it finally did start. Seems like the shift position sensor may be dyeing

It's so inconsistent that I don't want to waste time at the dealer until it becomes a more consistent problem.

On other cars this issue is either the Brake Pedal Position Sensor or the Shifter Position Sensor. I'll have a look in the foot well to see if my BPPS is at the end of it's self adjustment travel length

This happened to me today too on my 2021 that is not even a month old. It did start immediately after so I thought maybe I wasn't pressing the brake pedal hard enough. I have also noticed that the Idle Stop and Go does not engage but I am not getting any malfunction lights on the instrument panel.

Has your issue been resolved or is it still happening?
 
I have a 2022 telluride , it has happen to me twice already where with foot on the brake pedal, I hit start button and nothing happens.. completely dead and nothing works. No code or light indicators come on... 1st time, I requested a remote start and kept trying, called a tow truck, tried it again and the then it started. I thought maybe just a weird thing... 1 week later the same thing, except the remote start showed unsuccessful 3 times, called in a tow to the dealership, once there it started for them... I am not happy this happening with a new car... SO far the dealership says they are seeing a problem but I want something done, as I don't want to deal the unexpected dead new car ever. Any info would be appreciated.
 
I am starting to think that the Telluride has too many electronic features and the software and sensors are full of glitches. The recurring theme seems to be "the dealer has no solutions".

The Telluride does seem to be more sensitive to low voltage conditions than other cars. But on the bright side, most the issues posted were resolved with a new battery.
 
My 2021 SX AWD with the factory tow package had the following three issues immediately after I picked it up after an change performed at the Kia dealership service department. 1) ISG system: when all criteria are met (Green Auto Stop for Idle Stop and Go System Indicator) will kill the engine but after 2 seconds the engine restarts with the brake pedal still engaged ISG light remains green but blinks; 2) when starting the vehicle the brake pedal is very stiff as if all vacuum pressure has been bled off making the vehicle difficult to start unless excessive pressure is applied to the now very stiff brake pedal; 3) disengaging the cruise control by tapping the brake pedal now requires a much firmer press on the pedal to the point of actually engaging the brakes which was not the case prior to when all of these issues appeared.
Numerous visits to my local dealer service department ended in reports such as "it's working properly", "all of this was normal", "no issues found". After nearly a year, the service manager admitted there was a problem and submitted the issue to KIA which eventually authorized replacement of the brake cylinder assembly and brake booster assembly under warranty but after those replacements all of the above behaviors remain unchanged. I read in many posts similar but not exact behaviors and various solutions. I finally recorded a video that I provided to the dealer showing how the ISG system performs when the criteria are not met (A/C on high) and when the criteria for the ISG to activate are met (turned off the A/C) but it continues to immediately restart the engine after 2 seconds. I don't understand why Kia isn't addressing these issues more directly in a more timely manner and informing dealers how to diagnose these issues. I now have over 27K miles on the vehicle and am still holding out for a solution. I'm seriously considering trading in this lemon even though it is a very nice vehicle, especially on longer road trips, but the frustration with these recurring issues has dampened my enthusiasm for the vehicle which I paid a premium over MSRP for back in late 2020

Did you ever figure it out.. this is exactly what is going on with mine and they can't figure it out
