• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Synthetic oil?

Sorry I meant Castrol Edge full Synthetic 5w30

According to the information on their website, Castrol Edge 5W30 is only ACEA A1/B1 certified. As mentioned by others above, Mobil 1 5W30 and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W30 are both ACEA A5/B5 certified.

Does anyone know about valvoline modern engine full synthetic? I cannot find if it is ACEA A5/B5 certified. It is API SN+ certified.

Where we bought our Telluride they told us to not use synthetic oil. Is this true?
It's oil change time.
My Telluride will receive Amsoil 5W 30 and MotorKote at about 2000 miles. Amsoil Signature Series. Best You Can Get! Then a filter change every 12,500 and oil change at 25,000 miles. Have done this with 2001 Silverado since 2,500 miles and is perfect still. Silverado uses 0W 30W.

I wouldn’t had any oil additives until 10k miles. Wait for it to be completely broken in.

Have you done any oil analysis

MotorKote is not a additive! But aftermarket parts are. And on my Silverado 2001, no oil analysis, but 145,000 miles and runs perfect, and also I forgot to mention I use Amsoil filter. Filter changed every 12,500 miles as recommended. Been using Amsoil since 1976, In every motor I own.

Anything added to the motor oil would be considered an additive. And, according to the motorkote website, * In new vehicles - we recommend waiting to install Motorkote® Hyper Lubricant® until a period past the new car warranty period. I will not be adding this to my Telluride.

Hello, Thank you for the info of warranty period for MotorKote. Did not know that and when I did my truck it was past that period.

Hi I live in nebraska and we grow corn, and make ethenol!! lol..I use it in winter as i feel it helps prevent gas line freeze up.
I guess it depends were you live and the refinery. As I said if 87 has Up To10% ethanol I'm ok with that, but at the pumps crossing the country I've seen 10+. Shell 87 for instance says up to 10% ethanol I'm ok with that as well but for colder weather I prefer 5%. Ethanol loves water!!! Please correct me if I'm wrong since I joined the forum to learn and appreciate all the members comments or experiences. So thank you again to all of yo

Ethanol is hygroscopic, gasoline is hydrophobic. Water contamination in fuel can cause engine non-starting and corrosion issues. Ten percent ethanol blends can hold small amounts of water in solution, above this level a phase separation of water and ethanol mix separates from the gasoline.
