  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hello out there!

My husband and I have been kind of informally talking about replacing my 2013 Ford Escape (which I actually very much love) for a few months now. My vehicle is the primary mode of transportation for our two dogs, an oversized Sheltie and a Golden Retriever, and it's a bit of a squeeze. We wanted to go with the same idea, hatchback with fold down cargo, but give them a bit more room so they aren't on top of each other. We also plan to work in some road trips in the coming few years to start scouting potential retirement places and thought we might make them camping trips. We have a Ram that can tow, but the pups can't really ride in it well.

After looking around online, the Sorento caught our eye as a potential, and one random day we decided to pop in on a Kia dealership in Winchester, VA to try and see it in person. We got lucky. Someone had placed an order for an X-Line SX Prestige AWD in Aruba Green w/rust interior and decided not to take delivery, so we were able to test drive it. We were blown away by how awesome it was!

They had also recently received their Telluride allotment and a couple of them were just waiting for their new owners to come get them. They did not have one we could drive, but they let us look at one and sit in it. My husband was absolutely smitten.

This dealership had a $5K markup, which on top of the price was pretty hard to swallow. Plus, we actually live in WV and make efforts to buy local whenever we can. We called our closest dealer, which is Freedom Kia in Morgantown. We were just going to ask for info and learned they were selling at MSRP and before I knew it, we placed an order. What?! :ROFLMAO:

I'm both terrified and excited haha! I have NEVER bought a vehicle I haven't test driven. We ordered the Telluride with SX AWD w/Towing, Nightfall and Prestige. Color combo was Dark Moss/Nappa Gray.

No idea on timeline really. We actually are hoping we get rolled over into the 2023 group. Saw the debut at the car show and LOVE the new dash design.

Anyway, glad to be here and thank you all for the mass amount of information that has truly helped alleviate a lot of my concerns and stress over what felt like an impulse buy - also something I never do. I usually research the crap out of all major purchases. I felt like I did this one backwards and got lucky that the research is supporting the decision!

Now for the wait ...

Welcome! And sadly the waiting game will be hardest part now.

I didn't even test drive a Telluride. I basically rolled the dice 2.5 years ago when I got ours....and I still have a big grin on my face every time I drive it.

Honestly, that's good to hear and it's a reassuring consensus that so many Telluride owners absolutely love it, even years later.

Thanks! I'm guessing this bit (waiting) is the hardest part.

Question: My post says it's awaiting approval before being displayed publicly. Did I put something iffy in there or does it just take a little while?

I think it was the EDIT that might have done it. For a brand new member, an edit might mean somebody posting a first message that seems reasonable - so it passes filters - but then edits it to add something that would not have originally passed through. Things like that used to work - but now these systems realize the potential of that and may just throw it into moderation to be on the safe side.

Another groovy aspect of Telluride ownership is that if you and your husband decide after a couple of months that you don't like it, you can trade it in for a few thousand more than you paid for it. 👍🏻

I think I'm gonna like it though. And if I'm totally wrong, he can take over the payments because now he's wishing it was HIS new vehicle. :D
