  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... So around noon my time I went in and test drove at a second dealer, their Market Adjustment fee wasn't as bad, but wouldn't budge at the time, even when I offered to put down a deposit. Salesman gave me his card with his cell, so I shot him a text around 7 saying I would do MSRP + Delivery + TTLF + 2500. I didn't get a reply. I didn't text him back, but I wondering if anyone has tips on when I should follow up. Wait until business hours? I feel like we can make a deal but was a little confused that I got no reply to the text. I really want to just close this before I change my mind. The vehicle I want is on the way to the dealer and should be there by 10/31 at the latest. If I don't hear back from this guy, I feel like I need to call someone else at the dealership.

So you made an offer and they didn’t bite? Unfortunately, they want and can get more out of someone else or you. Nothing wrong with paying more if you want it now, but the fact that you want to do the deal before you change you mind sounds like you aren’t happy. So what to do? Let the forum know more about you and what you are dealing with… I’m sure they can help. Something like… I live in xyz and looking for model with options and can wait so many months. I promise they will give information you can rely on to make an informed decision because you need to feel good about the outcome. Good luck and you came to the right place!

I meant change my mind about the color....LOL...My bad posting when I am tired, wasn't very clear. I guess I would have at least expected a response like, No Thanks, or let me check, something. Was just curious if others had similar experiences.

I think you're giving the car salesman too much credit.

No offense but they are a car salesman. It has become a 2nd rate profession at best.

ESPECIALLY in Southern California

It’s all good, but still share what your looking to buy and where you are located so the forum can help you out with a back up plan. Maybe you text the wrong number or they have a better offer? Good luck and I negotiate land purchases so when I get an offer that I don’t like I don’t respond. More times than not the other side follows up with a better offer. In other words don’t negotiate with yourself

LOL, I was fully expecting at least a reply, wasn't going to start high without room to negotiate. IDK, I guess I I will just follow up with the guy tomorrow.

He replied this morning. Their markup isn't terrible. I might go for it. Posted a thread detailing my needs in the general forum. Thanks!

Just to be clear - You texted the salesperson after the dealership had closed on a Friday and expected them to respond?

No, dealers are open till 9PM here.
I mean, you still might allow that this guy got off early, had a personal thing, and/or only gets paid while he is clocked in...I would not expect a text back unless you were clearly told to text any time day or night.

I think in general a lot of people on this forum need to take a step back and realize these dealers/sales people's lives do not revolve around one Telluride order.

ROFL, don't give out your cell number and say to get a hold of me whenever then...
