• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... This morning while I was driving, I decided to use the cruise control buy it would not allow me to use the SCC where I was driving and that's cool because I was just trying it out. I'll try using it when I am on the expressway. So I pressed the set button 2 or 3 times and low and behold in the instrument cluster between the Tac. and the speedometer a compass appeared. I looked at all of the owners manuals and I found nothing, or maybe I over looked it. Would anyone else have this? I would like to know how I really got it.

What trim level?

There are no geographical restrictions for smart cruise control. As long as you are traveling above 20 mph, you can use cruise control. Highway Drive Assist is the feature that is limited to certain highways/roads based on map data loaded in the car.

The compass is cool.

There are tons of settings you can toggle through from the steering wheel buttons/toggles.

Cycle through them a few times to get an idea of what is where :)

Wait until you see the real-time front/rear torque distribution screen (y)

I’m willing to bet I know what happened here… you turned on cruise, tried to set a speed, but you accidentally toggled up (resume) instead of down (set). Because it can’t resume something that was never set, it told you “smart cruise conditions not met.”

Later on, you accidentally were hitting the mode button/toggle buttons on the top left of the right side of the steering wheel and were cycling through the compass, speedo, etc.

I was about to say the same thing. It’s easy to toggle the wrong switch. I’ve done it myself.

Yeah that has got to be it. Especially when I first got the car, my "muscle memory" from previous cars was all backwards for the Telluride. I was constant doing things like changing the cruise control when I meant to turn up the volume. One that I am STILL doing is this: I *intend* to turn on the heated steering wheel right away after starting, but I *accidentally* press the start button (located very close) and turn off the car while still sitting in my garage. Doh! Senior moment I guess. :)

Guilty on first item noted above. So glad I found this post! I drove 3 hours fighting the inability to set cruise control!! 😂 It was just *fine* yesterday! 😂

Like the compass but would be better on the rearview mirror or somewhere else where it doesn't hog the whole center screen.
