I completely agree, pictures don't show the great looks... when they pulled mine to the front of the lot for me, people came walking over and were saying how much they loved the color.

Car and driver did 2 articles on it, but I hadn't researched the vehicle smell, so I was ignorant.

I thought it was bad Body Odor that a salesman had rubbed on the seat after they filled it with gas... then when the sun hit it... OMG. Kept windows open in the garage, but then my whole garage smelled bad. Using the car became irritating and I was pissed getting into my beautiful $50,000 trash can... had to take the depreciation after 1700 miles when the Telluride came in because I couldn't even enjoy the Palisade.

So you noticed the foul smell as you were going through the test drive (I assume) and purchasing process? I want to be clear I'm not judging; just trying to get a sense of how soon this was an issue
 
Wow thanks for sharing that car and driver article. That’s crazy and sad for those owners. Sounds like maybe a 2020 problem only hopefully? I looked at a calligraphy because I thought if I can get it for below MSRP I’ll just get one of those instead. These had a 5k markup too! Lol.

No, honestly it was so very faint at first on test drive. I thought it was the salesman and didn't want to be rude. The dealership knew about the problem and admitted that they had been briefed on possible solutions in a meeting, so my guess is that it was all aired out prior to the test drive. Once home, thought it would fade like bad new car smell. After febreeze, activated charcoal bags, air fresheners, baking soda, and Hyundai saying to go to dealership and dealership saying go through Hyundai, I peaced out after 1700 miles.

Sounds like the right decision. After dropping that kind of cash and you can't even be happy in the vehicle, you gotta do something about it. Sorry that was your experience, but on the bright side, you scored yourself a new wolf gray Telly! 🙌
