    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... As one of the first orders, we used our 2020 Black Copper SXP with tow package for 28 months and 33,000 miles. Original MSRP was $48K. We paid, after rebates and first payment made by KMF $42K. We got $48K for it as a trade on a new 2022 X5 40i Msport which we bought at invoice minus rebates.

Just saying good buy, and wishing all of you the very best! Our Telly was an excellent experience. Ultimately, my wife wanted the twin turbo power of the X5, so off we go.

Interestingly, our Telly resold the day we traded it in.

Adios!

Congrats on the new X5 and enjoy! How would you say the Telluride compares, other than the power difference?

When we bought the Telly, it came down to an X7/X5 or the Telly.

The value per dollar spent is where the Telly wins. It truly isn’t close. The X5 we wanted was MSRP $77,800 vs MSRP $48,600 for the Telluride, So, I would only agree to the Telluride at that time.

The BMW’s win in the driving experience, service experience, and material quality areas. The cooled seats on the Telly are awesome, BMW seat ventilation is worthless, but the massaging seats and the multi contour seating in the BMW are super comfy! Both are smooth and quiet on the HWY.

For us, the RWD based AWD twin turbo torque power curve is priceless, so here we are.

We have no regrets with the Telly purchase and if the market wasn’t so insane with trade in values - we would’ve waited a few more years to change. The market made it too easy for us to fulfill my wife’s dream of the X5.

If the Telluride had more power and torque, do you think your wife would have still yearned for the X5, or do you think she would have been content with the Telluride?

If the Telluride had the same RWD based AWD drivetrain and suspension, we would never have traded the Telluride.

Super interesting. It's funny but the X5 Msport was the car I was zeroed in on until the Telly became available. (I found a used one on a Jeep lot if you can believe it) I would have had to order the X5 and wasn't about waiting. I actually traded in a 2017 BMW 340i Xdrive with the B58 engine which I think the new X5's have. I am ok with the Telluride, but the performance takes a back seat unfortunately with this car. My thoughts are they will come out with a model that has some better performance upgrades which would make this more satisfying to drive. Having owned BMW's though I am not thrilled about the BMW tax that comes with everything. I just had my Telly 22500 service along with inspection and emissions that cost $134.

Yes, after the first 3 years or 36,000 miles of free BMW service, the BMW tax as you coin it will become real.

The Genesis GV80 may be a good alternative in the near future. The higher end version has a twin turbo V6 that's reported to be awesome, the interior looks terrific and the car has a lot of tech. Pricing is similar to the X5, but with more tech, a much better warranty, and is likely both more durable and more reliable than the BMW, with lower service costs to boot. I love driving BMW's but having owned two (one car, one motorcycle, I know all too well what the BMW tax is.

Despite the appeal of the Genesis, I think it's just about time to make the leap to the car of the future. I actually have a pre-order in for one of these.

While I will likely have to wait until 2024 for the Max range version I need, I'm willing to do that to get something that can tow 7,500 pounds, get from zero to 60 in 3 seconds and handle like a sports car while having off-road capability that exceeds that of nearly all 4x 4's out there. Price with the tax incentive is in the X5 range, but with much, much lower operating and maintenance costs. Kind of like the Land Rover-ish look too.

Interesting enough, I had this car on my radar before the Telly. They came out after my purchase. I have read all the reviews and one of the biggest concerns is that the handling was so so. This would be one of the only reasons I was looking at it in the first place. You are looking at an electric car I presume?

Great work, time to trade in the X5 for a 2023 Tellmeride! I came from 2 straight X5s before the Tellmeride, and I don't miss them that much!

I was ready to pull the trigger on a GV80 3.5 but their dealer network is way too sparse in this area. I have virtually every major marque within 20 miles or so -- including Maserati -- so 60 miles to a Genesis store was a non-starter. They talked up the whole "Genesis concierge" thing, but it turns out the cutoff for that service is 50 miles or a one-hour drive.

I can't speak to the car, but it looks to me as though they still have some work to do on the dealer side.

I have a Genesis dealer 10 min from my home. Hmmmmm

We tried the GV 80 and found it to be a lumbering, floundering type drive experience. Also didn’t like the interior setup and the seats we nowhere near as comfy as the BMW with Luxury Seating. Not to mention, the Genesis brand holds no value as the market does not respect it as a luxury brand.

Congrats on the X5, hope you enjoy it - new BMWs under warranty are a dream. But you're kidding yourself if you think it'll hold value at all. They are at 50% discount in 3 years, as a rule. Pretty much the same for MB and Audi as well - current market notwithstanding.

Genesis performs worse. As this is my 87th automobile, and I finance $240,000,000 annually in auto purchases, I am fully aware of the hit each brand takes. I am good with the drop the BMW will have. It is what we like and the things we like are worth spending the money on. Cheers!

Nothing like driving a BMW! It's not a value purchase, it's a driving enthusiast purchase. BMW Tax is real, but the trade-off is worth it for some people. Typically most BMW drivers lease on new cars. I romanced an off-lease X5, drove it home and dropped off the kids at school in it, we all loved it, but held off. Glad I did at the time, it was just before the Quarantine and sweating potential layoffs during that time, with a car payment would have not helped the mental health much. :cool: I decided instead to take what the car payment would have been and slap that into a high interest savings account and now I'm ready to pay cash, or at least a hefty down payment on a Telly, if need be.

Coming from years of BMW ownership and this being my first Korean car, I am still in the discovery phase of ownership with this car. There is no doubt that the features you get buying an SX P Telluride and matching to a same year X5 will cost you big time. Many of the higher end safety and avoidance features only come (or use to) with only the highest trim packages of BMW. And then all the little items like cold weather package, technology package, sport package, wheels etc just ad to the that figure. Build one online and see. Hard not to get close to the magical $100k mark. It was nice to just order an SXP and know that as much as you can get. All that being said, I still cant help but feel that the Telluride is a relatively inexpensively made car dressed up to compete with BMW and Audi, at least for a while. This is where many of the issues I see on the forum concern me. Perhaps they are overstated, maybe. Add in a dealership that is at best average and seems to be poor with customer service and this is what I see as a concern. So when others have had the car for a year and are able to walk away from it for basically nothing, I am interested in their choices. At best, I will own this car for another 2-3 years. I can't see the same situation occurring at this time, but one can hope .

You know, I feel exactly the same way. BMW at least has excellent service to back some of it it’s more complex and problematic issues. For instance the desiccant problem in the air suspension on the X5. Over engineering things, tends to be a BMW “issue” both good and bad, but it can be fixed and will be fixed by their service department. I’m seeing complaints here that are never addressed or haven’t yet, from Kia.

I just traded in my 2021 Telluride that I bought this past March for a 2022 Telluride S (same model I had) and the dealer gave me close to $5,000 more than I paid in March. When all was said and done, my loan balance went down and my monthly payment amount reduced by $65 while staying at the same interest rate. I had 11,000 miles on the '21. The '22 has many more standard features than the '21, like navigation, charging station, electronic climate control, larger screen and some other smaller things. It's a great SUV and everybody that rides in it can't believe how comfortable it rides.

If one knows how to take advantage of today's market, one can definitely win big! I've sold or traded four vehicles in the past 6 months and won big each time:

* 2019 Ram 1500 - bought for $26k June '20; sold for $35,400 May '21 (made $9,600 after 1yr and 15k miles)
* 2021 Ford Explorer - bought for $33k May '21; and sold for $36,500 June '21 (made $3,500 after 3 weeks and 1.5k miles)
* 2017 Hyundai Tucson - bought for $21k Dec '17; sold for $24k June '21 (made $3,000 after 3.5yrs and 6k miles)
* 2020 Ford Escape - bought for $21k June '21; sold for $25k June '21 (made $4,000 after 3 days)
* 2021 Honda Pilot - bought for $37k June '21; offered $39k so far (potential profit of $3k after 6 months and 5k miles)
