• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Need help. I had an aftermarket trailor put on.
I know there's a Kia recall on trailor brake lights not working. My dealership says they have fixed the recall.

My brake lights on trailor still dont work (all other lights work). i have brought the car to both the dealership and the trailor install company 2x..
Each are saying the issue is with the other party.

Kia Dealership says the aftermarket trailor harness may not be campatible. Is there any truth to this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Tough to help without more details. Do you have any part numbers? Pictures? Receipts? Do you have a 2020 or 2021? Did you have a 4-pin aftermarket or 7-pin aftermarket harness installed? What are you towing? What kind of lights?

You said the brake (stop) light doesn’t work, what about the tail lights?

Your problem may require tracing out the wire for pin #4 (of the harness connection):

For the 4-pin there are two aftermarket harnesses that are plug and play with a 2020 or 2021. The two aftermarket have a higher Amp rating than the Kia branded one that may have trouble if you have many lights.

For the 7-pin you must go aftermarket on the 2020. If done properly it should only be a couple splices. But if you got a universal 7-pin installed that requires more splices, so you need someone who knows what they are doing.

For the 7-pin on a 2021, the same above applies, except that there is a Kia plug and play option.
