Trying to figure out Cruise Control and Lane correction

Each time I turn on my cruise my Telluride begins to do lane correction also- can you stop the two from working together???- called KIA but they did not know in Customer Service ?-any help would be nice- it also wants to correct and go down the exit ramp at times when making a slight left turn and there is an exit there also- better beware!!

It is in the menus in the speedometer cluster accessed by the buttons on the steering wheel. You can set the lane keep assist to off or vibration only if you don’t want it to actively assist.

edit - I’m not sure my post is correct. Was thinking of lame keep assist overall. Not sure you can decouple it from the SCC. I would have to test or pull the manual. I can maybe look into it more later today.

Kidding aside, I didn't think I would like that feature but wow does it cut down on driver fatigue for me and I like it a lot. I did turn off lane keep assist because I don't want to fight with it in local traffic.

I’m 50/50 on LKA.
Dangerous in the winter so absolutely has to be off.
Annoying when a road divides and/or there is a turn lane/off ramp and it wants to pull you to the outside lane when you need to stay inside.
Kind of nice to help manage driver fatigue on long trips.

Maybe a leave it off (or vibrate / warn - my preference) until you have a long drive on mostly freeway kind of feature.

Yeah, you still have to pay attention with LFA on with cruise. If I see a ramp or turn lane coming without the small marker lines, I make sure I hold it steady until it figures things out. Once I kinda figured that out, I don't have any concerns as I now know when to expect it to pull.

There is an LKA button to the lower left of the steering wheel. i'm assuming that if you turn LKA off in the configuring options you can still turn it on with the manual button with or without cruise control.

LKA ≠ LFA.

Lane keeping assist is controlled by the button to the left of the steering wheel, and will try to keep you in your lane by beeping and buzzing if you start to cross the line, and will even try to steer a little bit to keep you in your lane if possible. It will result in ping-ponging. You can tell it is active when you see the little road with lane lines around it glyph and it is lit green.

Lane following assist (as described in the manual excerpt above) is only available when cruise control is enabled. It will actually steer the vehicle and will also center the vehicle in the lane. You can tell it’s active when you see the little steering wheel icon in the cluster and it is lit green. The only way to turn LFA off is to turn off in settings (as shown above) or to turn off smart (adaptive) cruise control. Of course, if you turn off smart cruise, you will also lose the ability of it to follow cars in front of you, so that is less desirable.

These two features work differently and in varying situations; both can be on, both can be off, one or another, whatever you want.

Ultimately, I do question turning off all of the convenience features this vehicle offers… they make long highway drives super easy and less fatiguing than they would be otherwise.

Thank you for this post. It's One thing i need to adjust. Living on windy back roads it's constantly trying to adjust the wheel and I'm not a fan.

Do note that things have changed slightly for your car if you have a 2023.

Now LKA is turned on or off by holding the lane assist button on the steering wheel (there is no longer a button for it to the lower left of the instrument panel).

LFA is controlled by that same steering wheel button (short press, not a hold). LFA is also now able to be used anytime, cruise control does not need to be on.

While parked I was able to go into the driver assist settings from the consul screen and turn off LKA. It saved this setting so it's been off since.

Just like anything else, the more we use it, the more confortable and confident we become!! All these safety features are so new for many owners—the only way to learn them is to use them—often. I agree that sime of these features are quirky! This is why practice makes perfect.
