• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Uneven ride after engine is cold

I've had my Telluride SX since last July and love the car! But recently the acceleration and driving speed feels a bit uneven for about the first 10 minutes of the ride. There's a slight but noticeable "chugging" or skipping (for lack of a better way to describe it) that is felt by both the driver and the passenger. It seems smoother when I change to Sport mode, but the other three modes have the same uneven feel. It seems to go away after several miles. I do plan to take it to the dealer next week, but I thought I'd first ask here if anyone has had a similar experience with their car (or, for the more technical of those of you out there, what could be causing it?). Thanks!

It's flat spotting of the tires. Heavy vehicles with big 20" wheels especially hard compound V and Z rated tires are prone to this. S, T, and H are less prone.

My Genesis feels lumpy until the tires warm up and I only have 18" but they're Z rated Continentals. Yes, even Michelin can flat spot.

MB had a big recall on the early '90s S class for severe vibrations from flat spotting.

Hyundai recalled the Hankooks on my Gen and when I bought it, replacement Michelins were on it. That recall was for blistering and delamination, not flat spots.

I'm sure there are many here who have not experienced this or never heard of it and there are no rules that say all must experience it. This is my best guess based on your description and my experience. Once you have confirmed with a gauge (not the dash readout) that the tire pressure is correct, there is no treatment other than new tires.

I get the flat spotting and it makes sense on cold days. However, if that's the case, then why would the uneven ride change when I switch to Sport Mode?

I missed the sport mode mention in your OP. That is a mystery. Sport mode raises the RPM shift point but TMK, the KT does not have a sport adjustable suspension so the ride shouldn't be affected.

Could be a misfire causing a vibration but I pulling straws out of the air.

The Sonata and Telluride 8 speed automatic transmissions seem to be problematic.
