The PR blowback from a mainstream, non-luxury make's instituting a $5k-$10k price hike over just one model year would be immense. Kia would be accused of price gouging, war profiteering, exploiting and aggravating inflation, screwing over their customers, etc. Trim designation changes would not be nearly enough to defend such a markup. These are still Tellurides, and the top trims really don't differ that much from year to year.I could see it. With SX markups at $5k - $10k in much of the country, Kia may figure it makes sense to absorb those “market adjustments“ back into the MSRP. The revamped product line would provide an opportunity to do this.
Moreover, if Kia pulled a stunt like that, Hyundai would have to follow suit, or most customers would just shift to the cheaper twin. I've seen apparently well-informed speculation in a Palisade forum that the Calligraphy will be increasing by only $1500-$2000 for 2023.
