• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi,
There's a lot of talk about buying the warranty that Kia of Muncie offers. Has anyone actually used it? How did it go? Did you do it at a Kia dealership? Do they pay directly or do you have to pay upfront and claim it? Any surprises on what it didn't cover?

Same here. There is a ton of feedback about the lower cost option to purchase, but very little feedback about how easy it was use at the local dealer, if they provided the stated coverage without hassle, etc. That is the feedback I am interested in as well.

To make matters worse, it seems KIA dealers have different options for extended warranty service providers as opposed to a single national KIA branded provider. There are forum posts saying some dealers won't accept the Kia warranty from Muncie that is provided through fidelity warranty services, etc.

That would be strange because its the same Fidelity warranty company service what was offered at our local dealer which cost twice as much as Muncie. So technically it should be the same.

I believe there's a maintenance package that some dealers won't accept because it takes too long to get paid by the company.

If memory serves me, that's the one that some dealers won't accept. Kia doesn't have an extended warranty like other brands so my understanding was that the Fidelity one was what Kia backed.

I'm thinking that no one is talking about how easy it is to use because all the Tellurides on the road are still covered by the Kia standard warranty. The shortest items covered is supposedly the audio system, and that's for 3 years. After the 3 years are up, and problem arises, then the extended coverage would kick in. The electronics is what everyone seems to be worried about (including me), and the we are buying is really a 7 year warranty that starts after the factory coverage expires. The same with the rest of the vehicle starting at 5 years, except for the drivetrain which is the only thing covered by the factory for no extra cost to 10/100.
I bought the extended for my 2014 Sorento, and have never had a single problem with the car. I call Murphy's law on it.......something would surely break if I didn't pay extra for the full coverage warranty when I bought the car. Since I did, it will run trouble free while I own it (which is only until my 2022 Telluride comes in around a month from now) I stayed with Kia because we love driving the Sorento, but since it's coming up on 8 model years old now, I wanted to trade up while I can still get something for it. With the used car market the way it is, it's going to work out in my favor for once.

I found the attached pdf which gives a more complete description of the warranty. I Googled around a bit for reviews. The Google reviews are fairly good. The Yelp reviews are not so good. You have to remember though that reviews tend to be skewed to people who have a grievance.

if you look into it further --- it seems kind of 50/50 shot (or more like 70/30 to consumers disadvantage)

I’ve used Fidelity warranty for my Audi in the past. As long as the repair isn’t something in the exclusions list of the limited liability terms, they will generally cover costs of warranty repairs.
