Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hyundai, Kia recall 2022: Korean companies recall some car models for fire risk
DETROIT -- Hyundai and Kia are telling owners of some of their large SUVs to park them outdoors and away from buildings after a series of fires involving trailer hitch wiring.
The Korean automakers are recalling more than 281,000 vehicles in the U.S. because of the problem, but they haven't figured out how to fix it yet. The automakers reported 25 fires or melting incidents in the U.S. and Canada caused by the problem, but no crashes or injuries.
The recalls cover more than 245,000 Hyundai Palisade and over 36,000 Kia Telluride SUVs from the 2020 through 2022 model years.
In documents posted Tuesday by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the companies said debris and moisture can accumulate in a circuit board in the tow hitch wiring. That can cause an electrical short, which can lead to a fire.
Hyundai said that dealers will inspect the wiring and remove a fuse as an interim repair. Kia doesn't have an interim repair. The companies say a final repair is being developed.
In addition, dealers from both automakers have stopped selling the affected SUVs until repairs are made.

Is this just the 4 pin and not 7 pin trailer hitch? Does anyone remember which models have which?

It is vehicles with the 4-pin OEM tow harness that are being recalled.
The only vehicles that would be affected are 2020 models that came from the factory with tow equipment, or any model that had the OEM 4-pin installed later by the dealer or other authorized reseller.
All models coming from the factory with towing equipment from model year 2021 and on are 7-pin, and not affected.
Note that this VIN lookup is not populating any cars for this recall at this point. So don’t use it to know if you’re affected or not. Bottom line is, you’re only affected if you have the OEM 4-pin tow harness.
