I’m excited to have just received news from my dealer that my order was accepted by Kia and I now have a VIN and window sticker. Apparently my car is a “redirect from dealers inventory to fulfill a customer order” per my sales guys email. Onto the point of this post…

I’m hoping someone can explain the difference between the warranties listed in the standard feature section of the window sticker and the extended warranty that the dealer tries to sell you on the day of sale.

Attaching a picture of the window sticker warranty. Is this different from the extended warranty that many forum members have purchased from Kia in Muncie for example - who seems to have the best price on extended?

Major electrical, computer & accessory components are only covered by KIA for 3yr/36mo, this is not listed on the window sticker as you can see.
For now we are intending on keeping this vehicle for the long haul and with it being a new model with some new tech we decided to get the Muncie 10yr warranty which was just under $1500 last year. If we sell, trade or wreck this vehicle we'll cancel for a prorated refund at that time.
Usually not a fan of extended warranties on anything but this made sense to us on this purchase. GL

I’m wanting to keep the vehicle for at least 5 years. So I’m inclined to think I’m in the same boat and should buy the extended to get the extra coverage you mentioned.

Always reluctant to believe what the salesman say on the day of purchase, so I’m just wanting to have my mental ducks in a row when I walk into the dealership. We’ll see what price they offer for the extended! If it’s higher than Muncie, I’ll haggle. If they won’t budge, I’ll be calling Muncie!

I got the one from Muncie basically for the electronics. I figure if I end up needing it a couple of times, it will pay for itself. Being that it's a Kia, I'm expecting to use it but it's been solid through 15k so 🤞.
You have up til 5k mi to decide on the Muncie one. At least that was the way it was last fall.

Thanks for the 5K info!

Check with them to be sure. Our plan was to drive this thing a few years while the kiddo is young and then get a Bronco or something cool. But, once we had it a while, we decided that we liked it a lot and figured we may drive it longer than we expected so we decided to buy the warranty after 3-4k.

The telly is our Bronco! 😅
Luckily this is also our upgrade to make room for new family additions.

So just to clarify, anyone can opt to purchase the extended warranty with Muncie regardless of where their car was purchased?

That is my understanding. I plan to call Muncie prior to my purchase and have something in writing from them (hopefully email) detailing their warranty and pricing. That way I can leverage that when haggling my dealer for warranty on the day of purchase. If they don’t budge, I’ll purchase the warranty from Muncie over the phone the next day.

Yes. I purchased my vehicle at a different dealer and the warranty through Muncie.

The info for that warranty is here somewhere if you search. I just had to fill out the form, scan and send it and then call and give them my card info.

If for some reason you’d have to get warranty work done for the vehicle would you have to take it to Muncie?
