• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... What exactly do I need at 1 year maintenance?

And what should I expect to pay?
For context, I live in NYC, I don't put a lot of miles on the car so it's at about 3k, but it's been a year. My understanding is to keep the warranty valid I need to keep to the maintenance schedule - 8k miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. So I scheduled an appointment at a nearby dealer.

However I expect I'm going to get ripped off, this being NYC and all the awful stuff I hear about the local dealers. Can someone give me some guidance? Never had a new car before.

PS - everything works like a dream, this is purely to keep my warranty valid, so please correct me on that if I have that wrong...

3k. A year? Just an oil change and that's barely necessary

Yeah and I don't know what dealership you are going to but the service department at Kia of Englewood has been good and not far from the city.

Due to a health issue I hadn’t been able to drive for several months and only had about 4K on mine. I just did the 8k service — a glorified oil change — which was a freebie from my dealer. Otherwise I think it would’ve been maybe $100.

Find your manual here Manuals or wherever you put your hard copy.

Check section 7 of the manual for the "Normal Maintenance Schedule". Its a table showing the required maintenance based on time or mileage and the action to be taken (R=Replace, I = Inspect). It should look like the pictures below (for a 2022 Telluride).

The dealer may offer other services (not related to the required maintenance) just politely decline them as you only want to maintain your warranty. It's probably a good idea to take the manual or copies of the schedule so if they tell you something is necessary you can open the manual and have them point to it on the chart. If they can't point to it, you don't need it to maintain the warranty. They will likely stop offering you unnecessary services after you ask them to show you where its listed as required in the manual.
