  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... What's With Kia?

Thank you for your honest reply. I think I shall wait for a year or two before deciding. By that time the Mazda CX9 will have some needed upgrades and and I can make a more intelligent comparison of the two vehicles.
Does that mean you will be on here for the next two years complaining about Kia's and letting us know why you are not buying a Telluride?

Only when owners, not the homers, stop the many complaints about the current model of the Telluride. BTW,if you take off your Telluride sponsored glasses, maybe you will also find a few complaints by people who now own the vehicle. I am merely stating some of the alleged current owner's complaints, which I consider concerning. I never stated precisely I am not buying a Telluride, just that I have reservations until those problems are corrected. I believe this is an open forum, and anyone is allowed to post as long as they are compliant. If you desire to defend everything about the Telluride, fine, but I also have a right to question. I recommend you not read my posts if they irritate your dendrites too much. I shall continue to post.

You might end up dying before you can go to a forum for ANY vehicle and have 100% praise and no issues. All vehicles, computers, phones, flooring typrd and jeans have issues. Not every single items off every production line is going to be perfect. This draws out people to go tell other people about it. For the vast majority of consumers, they get a product and when it works they just go about their day. They don't go tell the world how awesome their jeans fit on a forum.

We've had our Telluride since March of 2019. It's an AWD EX in Moss green. We have had 0 issues. We have 15,000 miles on it now. It's never been to the dealer except for scheduled oil changes.

Purchased my SXP 12 mos ago. Naturally, there were no SXP's on dealer lots back then as well. Test drove a lower trim model which was the only one my dealer had at the time (they rolled it off the showroom floor for my test drive) Knew it was solid within the first couple of minutes. Was fortunate I didn't have a salesperson with me. Drove it on roads I was used to and stopped by my house to check the fit in my garage. I have a history with Audi's, so my perspective was somewhat tilted to the upper end of the market. The Telluride "felt" somewhat German from the moment I drove it off the lot on the test drive. (those of you with German marques know what I'm referencing)

I had a good sense for the dealer experience beforehand. Quite different from a higher end experience. But, it's important to understand the majority Kia buyer base is typically not engaged with higher end brands. Expectations are different. The more higher end conquest customers Kia produces, the more opportunity for realigning customer experience.

Took delivery on my SXP last year just before Memorial Day. Was thankful I got the long weekend to shake things out. I'm sitting at 8K miles so far. Still liking the teutonic feel. Materials seem to be holding up ok. My sense is there should be some ergonomic infotainment tweaks in future models to help keep you focused on the road. Otherwise, I'd match this tech up against the Germans any day. (besides, the Germans work with most of the same tech vendors as does Hyundai / Kia / Genesis)

Negotiated 4 oil change / services as part of my purchase. So far, my only operating costs have been fuel, insurance, DMV fees. Much less than some of my previous German rides.

I understand most of this is subjective. In the end, if it feels right......do it. Don't look back.

Enjoy the ride,
WSX

I haven't noticed a plethora of the Tellurides on the road. Maybe it is a test by Kia to see how well they are received. I am researching the Mazda CX9, hoping to see some upgrades in top trims in 2021-22 year models.
They are clearly received terribly. I mean only every major car magazine/review has been glowing and owners on here can’t say enough about their cars.

Your trolling is pretty good but it’s the same thing over and over again. You should find another angle so you can alternate month to month. Love the old man schtick. Good luck to you.

There will always be new models coming out. You can bet Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, etc., are not going to let Kia rule forever. So if you are patient, there will eventually be something even better out there.

That being said, I think its going to be AT LEAST a couple of years for that to happen. Toyota just came out with their new Highlander. The next one is probably 5 to 6 years out. Ford just came out with their new Explorer. Honda came out with their new Passport in 2019 (but the Pilot should be getting an upgrade in the next two years). Mazda CX9 has been out for several years.

Not only do brands need to come out with new models, they need to aim HIGHER. Explorer missed the mark for sure. Kia/Hyundai really upset the market IMHO. This is what competition can do. You think you have a bold new model in design, and then a competitor sneaks up on you and hits a home run!

well, I ordered a sx p/t with a $500 REFUNDABLE deposit. When it arrived, I was able to have the car for 2 days before returning the paperwork. I could have walked away.
My wife has some mobility issues, so deal breakers would have been her having trouble getting in or out.
My wife and I did drive a lx around the block from a different dealer.
Yes, my dealer had my car listed on their website while it was in transit. I asked, they told me it standard to list incoming inventory, even if pre-sold.
I did watch extensive you-tube video and so had an excellent idea of the car, but nothing is the same as actually driving a new car and confirming all of the details.

I researched this car and I understand the supply and demand. I was able to protect my self by using a dealer that allowed a low deposit and it was refundable. Other dealers in the area wanted a $1000 NON refundable deposit and also were selling above MSRP.

I am very happy with the car and the dealer, but I did my research.
