Reasons for thinking the 2021 Telluride drops this summer rather than the fall:
'21
Seltos just launched (all new)
'21
Sorento will launch this summer/fall (all new)
'21 Cadenza will launch this summer/fall (refreshed)
'21 Sedona will launch this summer/fall (refreshed)
'21 Optima will launch this summer/fall (all new)
Why muddle the launches above with a newly dropping '21 Telluride in the late summer/fall timeframe? Plus with these long waits continuing for a car that launched in March 2019 - and with the all new Toyota Highlander launching now - it would be to KIA's advantage to have the '21 Telluride arrive this summer as they ramp up production to 100K/units a year. Plus with so little inventory on lots of the 2020's - KIA wouldn't even have to really discount the last model year at all to clear the 2020's. It isn't an issue of having to keep interest up - it is about evenly spreading out model changes over the next six months.
Finally - the sooner they launch it, the sooner they can address owner complaints that have built up over a few small issues - like the lack of a remote start on the key fob. They can also introduce new trim packages to keep the margins higher. I for one would love to see the digital dash come to the prestige package...and would pay extra for it. All I can say is if the 2021's are announced before an allocation gets picked up,
@StephenCantrelle will be getting a call from me to get me first in line on a 2021.
I expect an announcement at the New York Auto Show at the latest.
