• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hello friends,

I bought Telly last june and only added 4k miles so far (second car). Dealership told to bring the car for 1st service at 7k miles at the time of purchase. I get monthly report from KIA that there are no issues. Mostly i will add another couple thousand on the road in next couple of months. Is it mandatory to take the car to service now or its OK to go when it hits 7k?

The only thing you need to do is follow the maintenance schedule in the owners manual - so make sure your oil is changed based on time or milage based on your driving condition. If you get your oil changed at the dealership then those appointments will include the appropriate inspections. If they try to get you to buy services that don't match the service schedule then call them out and ask for specific evidence that something needs to be done.

I recommend getting it changed, for no other reason than it’s the first oil change and it’s been 9 months. I just changed mine at 2k and 3 months simply because it’s cheap insurance and plan on keeping it for the long haul. I cut open the filter and in sunlight did see a few specs of metal fragments which is normal for a brand new engine. All future changes will be per recommended intervals with pennzoil ultra platinum.

I would agree on the 1st change should be early. I have had my 22 SX for just over 2 months and have just under 2000 miles on it. Just stopped by the dealer to pickup up an oil filter yesterday for a change this weekend.

In relation to this is there a way to record the work done outside of dealership in Kia Connect app?
