• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I believe the early build Tellurides had the Sirius XM Travel Link that would give you weather, gas prices, etc. My Sept. 11th build SX does not have it and the manual is silent about it. Here is one photo showing it existed on an early build S model.

I called KIA customer service and they didn't know the answer. They told me to call Sirius. I called Sirius and discovered my Sirius was not active yet. I was on the dealer's account. So they activated it and still no Travel Link. She checked with her tech specialist and was told my car's navigation does not support Travel Link.

Unacceptable in a flagship vehicle. My Hyundai Kona has it and it's a much less expensive vehicle. In fact I cannot remember the last time we've had a vehicle that didn't have it.

KIA if you are paying attention get this resolved please.

So I spoke with my Service Manager who is great and I was shocked that his head tech employee had some information. He told me the Telluride is Travel Link capable and that Kia had intended for it to be on the vehicles but it is blocked at this time until some security issues are resolved between Kia and Sirius. He is confident it will be available at some point and he doesn't think it will require a software update. It will just get unblocked at some point from Sirius.

I'm a little concerned that they removed it from the manual. It would make more sense for the info to have stayed in the manual if they intend to offer it in the future.

So there is some hope that we will see Travel Link on our Tellurides at some point.

I am waiting to hear from the forum member that showed it on his S model last Spring whether he still has it or if it has been blocked on his Telluride.

Well I was at my dealer today and saw an October 9th, 2019 build S model that had the Sirius Data services. The S model also has UVO so the whole security excuse as to why the SX model doesn't have it makes no sense. I have opened a case with KIA. The SX is marketed as having all the features of the EX plus _______. The EX is marketed as having all the features of the S plus _________.

I have an EX and I don’t have the SiriusXM data app. I have an HDdata app. I bought mine April 1, 2019

I figured the EX didn't have it since it has the big screen like the SX.

So the good news is that the Kia Customer Service rep I am working with is very proactive and understanding. I spoke with her Friday morning and she took all the info and was was looking into it. Called me back at 8:00 p.m. right before she was leaving for the weekend. Unfortunately the info she was given was that none of the Telluride models support SiriusXM Data Services. She obtained that info from Sirius. When I told her that I personally saw an October 9th build S model that had it she was very interested. So I emailed her the photos and she it going to go further up the chain with people at Kia that might know the answer.

So anybody with an EX or SX that is interested in the Data Services can call Kia at 800-333-4542. They answer very quickly once you go through the robo prompts. Have your VIN handy if you have never called before.

Our specific situation is that when we first looked at the Telluride we test drove an S model. We were happy to see that it had Sirius Travel Link like the Jeep Cherokee we were looking to trade. Finally traded the Jeep for an SX that came in and disappointed to find no Travel Link. Kia's website said the SX should have everthing an S has and a whole lot more.

I think they will make this right if enough people call.

That’s very interesting the ‘lower end’ models have the travel link yet the EX/SX don’t. Don’t understand all I know about that. I can positively tell you our S has that app/option and if works fine. Honestly, I had no idea this app even existed until I read your initial post. I was curious so I started up the car, found the app and tried it. Received a message on all the options (wx,stocks, sports, etc) that a subscription was required. Got on the phone to Sirius and was able to procure a 1 year trial Travel link subscription for 11.99. Sirius texted a link I used to reactivate the app and within a minute, all 5 of the options work perfectly. Local fuel prices, movies, weather, etc. should come in handy and for 11.99 for a 12 month trial, thought it was a good value.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Travel Link is expired on our Hyundai Kona. So you are saying I can have it activated for $11.99 for the year or did you mean $11.99 per month?

That 11.99 was for 12 months or roughly $1 per month. The gal said after the 12 month trial
Period is up, it will be cost 4.99 monthly. So that will give us a year to decide if it’s something we want to continue using or just cancel the travel
Link. The dollar a month sounded good but the 4.99 not so good.

Thanks. Our Kona Sirius radio subscription expires tomorrow. I always get them to give me the all access package for $5 per month. If they won't include Travel Link at that price I'll tell them I know a guy that gets it for $1 per month. Don't really need it on the Kona since we don't do long trips in it and the HD Weather works where we live in Kansas City but $1 a month is a no brainer.

I really want/need Travel Link on the Telluride but I don't have a good feeling that it is going to happen. Can't understand why an inexpensive Kona has everything and the flagship Telluride doesn't.

I heard back from the KIA rep today. Let me first say that she was very nice and professional and did what she could to get information about this. Unfortunately the information she obtained from the UVO specialist makes no sense. She was told that the EX and SX models do not have Travel Link because they have Apple Carplay and Android Auto which would allow weather to be obtained. I pointed out that the S model also has Apple Carplay and Anroid Auto. She then speculated that it might be because the S model does not have navigation which also doesn't make any sense. Factory NAV does not have anything to do with weather. In fact the Sirius brochure that came with our SX said that three months of Travel Link are included on vehicles with factory Navigation.

So I don't think EX or SX owners will be seeing Sirius Travel Link any time soon if ever. Sorry I don't have better news to report.

@hammick - I'm more interested in how you approach Sirius to get the all access package for $5 per month - that's about all it's worth to me and would be willing to pay that - but, not the $25+or-/mo regular price (not even the $12/mo 'special offer' they have right now for 12 months)...

Who you talk to and what you say would be appreciated; oh, and how often... I'd be willing to pay for 5 years upfront...

TIA

I have never paid more than $5 a month for Sirius unless I forgot to call and cancel and then had to pay for part of a month. I used to cancel the subscription, wait for the promo to come in the mail and then renew. Now when I cancel I just tell them it's not worth more than $5 a month as we don't use it much. Last Monday I did it on the our Kona. They offered $4.99 a month for six months. I asked if they could do it for a year so I didn't have to go through all of it again in six months and they did. I just logged in and saw that I have the "Sirius XM Select Lite" package. I looked it up and it's the Select package with no streaming. That's fine with us. It has all the music, news and comedy stations and that's all we need.

I don't know if it's different in different parts of the country.

Geez...that’s a shame. Glad we opted for the S model. Don’t care about the Apple CarPlay or Android auto features. Also don’t care about the Nav as we use a Garmin GPS unit which works just fine. For our needs, guess we just lucked out purchasing the S. 😎

I was just playing around with the Apple Carplay and it doesn't have a weather app. So KIA's reasoning for why the EX and SX don't have Sirius Travel Link is complete crap. Come on KIA there is no reason why the S model gets it and we pay thousands more and don't. I'm calling the KIA rep back.

My SX has HD radio Data

So does nine but it doesn't work in SD, WY or MT. The are the places I drive the most and in the winter it would be nice to have a working weather app on the screen.

Reading through the forums to learn more about my car, and for what it's worth (coming late into this thread) my February 2020 build S model has it all there.
