• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Anyone ever used an Ottocast? Saw yesterday where they're launching a new item that should handle BOTH AA & Carplay. Looks like the company has other products though, wonder how they have worked in the past...

No price, and nothing but a blind 'sign up for a contribution'. I'll wait for my AA Wireless perk.

has anyone else bought the carlinkit 3.0 from amazon?...can you tell me what ports are on your device?...we have bought 2 of these from the same link and both were different...first one was returned due to it disconnecting while driving...

first one: 1 usb-C port on the device (with a usb-C to usb-A cable)
second one: 1 usb-C port on one end and 1 usb-A port on the other end of the device (with a usb-C to usb-A cable)

...not even sure what the other port is for

I just bought the Carlinkit 3.0 last week.

Update: I finally got it working

It would be nice to have one that handles both AA and CP for us divided families. ;-) I have the Mirabox CP arriving tomorrow. My wife is an iPhone user and drives the Telly more than I do so we'll start with this option since it is available now. BTW, Amazon has a $30 coupon for it currently. Gets the price down to $90.

It should be the perfect solution for a divided family. I'm afraid it won't help decide which phone gets the start on any given day. Cheers!

Hey guys sorry if this specific question was previously brought up but for those who are using a wireless adaptor for carplay, do you see much practical difference as compared to the built in wired carplay?

I know it is more convenient for the phone to connect without the need of having to plug it in every time, but other than the maps, is there anything else you get using wireless carplay which you cant achieve with simple Bluetooth connection?

Also are there any limitations of using a wireless carplay adaptor which I should be aware of before I decide to purchase one?

Thanks

if you want it to work all the time go wired...if you want the convenience go wireless...i think we went through about 2 or 3 wireless adapters before we found one that would work consistently...there are typically issues with staying connected and lag for the wireless adapters

I use the Motorola Android Auto wireless dongle in my Telly and it works flawlessly. Never an issue. Likewise, my wife uses Carlinkit 3.0 for wireless Carplay in her Mazda CX-5 with no issues.

Success seems to vary depending on the dongle and the vehicle. I recommend buying on Amazon so that you can return it if it's not working great.

Using Waze or Maps seems to run down the phone battery pretty quickly, so you'll probably end up plugging in for long trips even if you use wireless Carplay/AA. But for short trips, nothing beats the wireless. Why not buy one from Amazon and try it out? They'll let you return it if you don't love it.

we tried 1 or 2 carlinkits, an ottocast and returned all as they kept disconnecting/rebooting...ended up with a autobox

How has the autobox been? Any issues?
