SXP Nappa seat comfort

Hi all,

We are thinking about ordering a SXP. We drove one recently and after about 10 minutes, my wife said she found the seat cushion to be quite hard. I didn't think it was all that hard until we got back into our other car and the seats were much softer on the butt! Has anyone else noticed this? Is the non-P version softer on the seat?

If I order one and the seats are hard, I am going to be in big trouble...

I have an sxp and my seats seem very premium to me. But my comparison was coming from a Honda Pilot and Ford Explorer
So it depends what you’re comparing it to.

Love the seats. They are super comfortable, the perfect balance of cushioning and support. I'm coming from a 2002 Lexus LS 430 and I prefer the seats on my Telluride SX P/T by far

Buy her a cheap seat cushion when you get the new car if she still complains. It is worth it.

Seats are great. Multi-hour drives are no issue.

If you want to see what a hard seat is - try a Mazda CX-9...

Thanks for the replies. We are coming from a MB GL450. We’ve been looking at so many cars. A new GLS or GLE, X5, Expedition, Lexus, Mazda, Infiniti, Volvo...the list goes on. We really like the Telluride. I might need to see if I can find another one to try and see if it was just a moment in time.

We came from an ML350 and haven't looked back. Absolutely love the ride, comfort, and looks of the Telluride!

It will get softer with time, but compared to a MB(not to mention the seat is already broken in and you are used to them), it may still feel firm. I am sure as the Napa breaks in, you will get used to it as well. Palisade felt softer to me but I liked firm(er) feel on the Telluride. It could also be ride comfort(suspension setting) on Palisade that felt more soft. Compared to Stinger, Telluride is soft.

Great point.

For me, the Telluride seats occupy the Goldilocks "just right" zone of cushioning and support. If they were any firmer or softer, I probably wouldn't like them for any extended period of time.

I'm noticing my posture improving and my back and neck feeling great even after longer drives. They may not be for everyone, but for me, the Telly seats are almost too perfect.

We did not find the seats to get much more comfortable after driving for 8 months.

My husband is 6’1 and he loves the seats even after having it for two years. I on the other hand am petite. I’m 5’1 and my booty hurts every time I sit on the seat for more then 45 min. Such a bummer cause I love our car!

I love pretty much everything about our SX-P, but my wife and I absolutely hate the seats. They don't tilt up remotely enough to evenly distribute leg pressure. They are a tad firm, in a bad way. The lumbar isn't quite in the right place and the contour doesn't seem to work well for either of us.

The seats in our 2012 sportage were better. The seats in my F-350 (or the previous truck... Tundra) are light years better. The seats are so bad by comparison that we're going to go sit in (and maybe even drive) an X5, etc. Colossal disappointment for a vehicle that is so superior in so many other ways.

BTW, I just took a friend on a long trip. He owns a Volvo XC-90, and after a few hundred miles said he was amazed at how much he preferred the Telluride's seats.

Yes, I'm sure there are worse options out there, and of course personal preference plays a big role in seats. Perhaps we've just been very lucky with our past 6 or 7 vehicles. If I could just tilt the Telly's seats enough, I probably wouldn't mind the rest of the gripes.

Makes sense. So much depends on what you're used to, much like a mattress. I find the same is true with ride and handling. Some like a very firm ride, with a feel for the road and responsive steering, while others like a more cushy feel.

Perfect comparison with mattress preferences.

The Telly seats, for me at least, strike the ideal balance of support and comfort which probably matters less for my shorter drives but fits me perfectly for those longer drives.

With the heated steering wheel
and cooled seats, it's been my favorite driver's seat so far.

Warm hands, cool backs, can't lose.

Having done numerous long drives, some non stop for 10 hours, I can say they are acceptable. Are they BMW quality? No. Also having the passenger seat with no lumbar adjustments is a big minus. I came away from the drives with no major stiffness or lower back pain so that amounts to something. The leather quality is also meh. Despite the SXP seating, it feel hard and not supple. Again, compared to MB and BMW.

I upgraded from an S to an SX nightfall because the seats in the S were hard. They told me the leather in the SX was better. It's not! Thinking of trading it in.
