Wonder if there are plans to upgrade the technology in the Telluride like the 2021 Sorento that has wireless Apple Play/Android Auto?
The 10.25” screen (the one I’m guessing most people care about) still hasn’t been updated to support this. I’m sure once Hyundai/Kia adds wireless CarPlay/AA support to the big screen, the Telluride will get it along with all of the others.Wonder if there are plans to upgrade the technology in the Telluride like the 2021 Sorento that has wireless Apple Play/Android Auto?
Yes, we're talking about wireless capabilities. My 21 S has Apple play
I just bought this for my son! I'm hoping it works well in his GTI.I use the CPlay2Air adapter with iOS 14.whatever and I don't have any issues.
This is exactly what I’ve been trying to explain to people for a while. It will not be a simple software update to enable wireless. Since current Telluride does not have proper hardware for wireless connectivity, only option would be 3rd party hardware as mentioned above for Apple and AAWireless(Not yet released) for Android. It is a possibility that future MY Telluride may offer wireless, but to retrofit that to current model might be hard. Someone will surely look in to it if/when the hardware gets updated.
I’m curious about the USB ports in the Telluride. I have pre-ordered my 2021 Telluride SX but won’t be getting it until probably March. In my currently car (a Volvo) only one USB port is compatible with Apple Car play. Do you know multiple ports or if only one port in the Telluride is car play compatible? This is exactly what I’ve been trying to explain to people for a while.
There is not going to be a magical software update for current Tellurides to enable wireless.
But like we’ve said, when they upgrade the 10.25” system, surely the Telluride will get it. Will it be 2022 models? 2023? Who knows. Guess we’ll find out. But none of this matters to current owners.
Just use CarPlay2Air. It’s not perfect, but it works well and is super convenient.
Not all trim levels have wireless charging but yeah I get what you’re sayingI totally think Kia missed the boat on these 2021 Tellurides by not offering wireless Android Auto / Apple Carplay. This is especially since they offer wireless charging in that front compartment ...
It does... for the 8” screen. Just like so many other 2021 Hyundai/Kia models.Doesn't the Palisade offer wireless AA and CP? I wonder if the head units are swappable to add this capability
Yea, Imagine opting for the higher end trims only to realize that you lost functionality of wireless android auto or car play with the 10+" displays. Give it another year or two and there will be more mainstream aftermarket wireless adapters. Choices are limited at the moment, but Carplay has one out now and AndroidAuto has one in the works. It does... for the 8” screen. Just like so many other 2021 Hyundai/Kia models.
So the smaller screen offers it, but not the larger one? What were they thinking? It does... for the 8” screen. Just like so many other 2021 Hyundai/Kia models.
As far as I’m aware the 10.25” unit was pretty much brand new for the 2020 model year and isn’t due for an update yet. The 8” unit had been out for a bit and is being updated for 2021 for many models (albeit not the Telluride). Unfortunately at this time that means you get the weirdness of a nice feature not being available on the premium unit because we’re at a transition point. So the smaller screen offers it, but not the larger one? What were they thinking?
Seems like a lot to spend on an adapter. Wondering if it’s really worth the money or if there are other alternatives you may have tried first?I use the CPlay2Air adapter with iOS 14.whatever and I don't have any issues.
