In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Seems like a lot to spend on an adapter. Wondering if it’s really worth the money or if there are other alternatives you may have tried first?
This was my only purchase. I had used this in my 2014 Kia Soul and moved it to the Telluride. I purchased it after reading about it on a Mac oriented website. I find it worthwhile.

Do any users of the CarPlay2Air find there is a delay in phone call audio, like 1-2 seconds. Makes a meaningful phone call difficult in my experience (in a Stinger). Hoping my Telluride is ready for pick up this week!

Do you mean in the call setup or even as you're speaking? No issues with audio delay while speaking. I do notice there is a delay between screen presses on the Telluride to action on the phone. However, when making a call I am usually using Siri to activate.

I went with the Carlinkit 2.0 adapter instead of the CarPlay2Air as it seems to be a newer release from the original manufacturer. The CarPlay2Air seems to be a white labeled version of the Carlinkit 1.0. I've only done a bit of testing since I purchased, but did not notice any delays. Not sure this really helps you, but I wanted to share my experience.

You may want to consider updating the firmware on the CarPlay2Air. I can't say how to do that, but my Carlinkit 2.0 came with instructions on doing it. Of course there were many warnings about potentially bricking the device if you attempt to update the firmware.

The delay I experience is when I am talking with someone, they hear me 2 seconds after I say something. It makes a seamless conversation difficult. Have done firmware update, no improvement. When my Telluride arrives, I will try it then. Perhaps there is something specific to the Stinger that causes this delay.

I’ve had this in a 2014 Soul and now the Telluride, no issues.

Re: Firmware update, navigate to http://192.168.50.2 when connected to it to do the update. There was a recent update within the past month.

I picked up my 2021 Sorento GT-Line last week. According to the engineering menu, the 10.25" head unit is equipped with BCM89359 5G WiFi/Bluetooth Smart 2X2 MIMO Combo Chip with RSDB Support. Its key features are:
  • Optimized for seamless interaction with enhanced wireless applications and feature-rich systems like Apple CarPlay and Google Auto Link, the BCM89359 device is the first WLAN combo architected specifically for multi-band concurrent automotive infotainment and telematics operation.
  • RSDB support enables simultaneous connectivity to the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands, improving throughput and latency when using multiple applications.
  • Integrated 5G WiFi technology provides the bandwidth required for multiple high resolution in-car displays, allowing uncongested 5GHz video to coexist concurrently with Wi-Fi Internet access and 2.4GHz Bluetooth hands-free audio.
  • 2x2 MIMO technology delivers twice the Wi-Fi performance of any other solution on the market today, providing the highest throughput in-car network possible for multiple user experiences.
  • A dedicated Bluetooth antenna enables concurrent operation of Bluetooth and WLAN applications and employs advanced coexistence algorithms to maximize voice quality and data access speed in simultaneous operation.
So I bet it is just a matter of a software update.

is that the same chip that is in the Telluride?

I guess it probably is. Could you check it using engineering menu?

Picking up my Telluride this week. Anyone have any updates on AAWireless availability for Android Auto? Are there any other devices in development to support this functionality?

Just installed a CarPlay2Air today. Very easy to installl; it took only a few minutes to pair 2 phones. Seems to work well. I'll update after my wife has used it for a few weeks, but my initial impression is positive.

For those of you using the CPlay2Air or Carlinkit 2.0 adapters, have you noticed any of the issues described in the review below?

Particularly items 1 and 4 would probably bug me.

1. The UI shows buttons on the screen as if I’m using a cursor - this is the least significant and yet the most annoying bug in my opinion.

2. Lag when connecting

3. Audio Quality Muffled and Skips quite often

4. Doesn’t integrate for auto dark mode

5. Freezing

Waiting to see the first reviews of AAWireless, from there will decide if I will get one.

I have been using the CarPlay2Air adapter since January 2020.
1. The UI shows buttons on the screen as if I’m using a cursor - this is the least significant and yet the most annoying bug in my opinion.
It does show the transparent boxes around the “buttons” that you can touch, some of which normally wouldn’t have had anything around them (e.g., play/pause, previous/next track, etc. It was a little jarring at first, but it didn’t take long to get used to. I think the convenience factor wins out here.
2. Lag when connecting
I would say there is minimal lag when connecting. Usually by the time I have started the car and pulled out of the garage and gone to hit the button to close the garage door, it’s connected and ready.

I did have an issue before where if I would get out of the car briefly (like getting gas or going into a store), it would not reconnect automatically (I would have to tap my phone name on the CarPlay2Air screen to get the phone connected again). However, recent CarPlay2Air updates have fixed this issue, and it now reconnects almost instantly.

The only noticeable lag I ever come across is when skipping tracks, you may notice a ~1-2 second delay from when you flip forward or backward before the change takes effect. So I wish it was instantaneous? Of course. But again, small price to pay for overall convenience. The same small delay may or may not cause issues on certain phone calls, but I don’t make phone calls (especially not in the car), so I do not care.
3. Audio Quality Muffled and Skips quite often
Audio quality is excellent and mirrors what it would be if I was plugged in. Every so often I might notice a skip, usually when it is trying to push lots of data. But that is incredibly rare.
4. Doesn’t integrate for auto dark mode
From day one, it has always worked consistently if I went from lights off (light maps) to lights on (dark maps).

However, there was sometimes an issue where if I started the car in the dark with the lights on, it would show light maps and there was nothing I could do to change it (other than just using Google Maps in always-dark mode).

I think this has been fixed with recent updates, but I honestly usually use my CarPlay in split screen with the audio screen taking up the full CarPlay portion and the Kia maps taking up the right 1/3. I rarely use the Apple or Google Maps (or Waze) unless I’m on an extensive trip. I will edit this when I leave work tonight in the dark to re-confirm for sure. (Edit: it does in fact go straight to dark Apple Maps upon startup in the dark with the lights on. So it seems this issue is fixed.)
5. Freezing
I have never, ever had it freeze or drop the connection. It has been rock solid. If anyone has any issues with theirs, it is super easy to quickly update the device’s software as provided in their instructions.

Overall, I’m super impressed with this system. I especially like that on the EX/SX with the door over the wireless charging area, you can have this plugged in, never see it, and sort of forget it even exists.

I love being able to get all of the functionality of CarPlay without having to plug in my phone (or even take it out of my pocket). Even at its full price of $160, I think that’s a small price to pay.

Carlinkit 2.0 user here, but it's only been about 3-4 weeks of use.

1. The UI shows buttons on the screen as if I’m using a cursor - this is the least significant and yet the most annoying bug in my opinion.
I've not noticed this so I suspect I haven't experienced this, but I don't have much experience with CarPlay outside of using this adapter so it may just be that I don't know any better.

2. Lag when connecting
I wouldn't call it lag so much as the adapter needing to power on and then connect to the phone via bluetooth. By and large, it is connected before I even finish pulling out of my driveway. There has been one time where it didn't connect for maybe 30+ seconds, but I look at that as the exception since it only happened once. The connection has been very reliable in my opinion and responsiveness is what I'd expect.

3. Audio Quality Muffled and Skips quite often
I've not experienced this. In fact, I've been impressed that it hasn't lost a beat when driving through some of the known cellular dead zones in this area.

4. Doesn’t integrate for auto dark mode
Unfortunately, my experience is only with this adapter so I don't have experience with something else to compare. I will say I keep my phone permanently on dark mode so maybe that is why this isn't something that has impacted me. The maps do adjust for sunset, etc. as was noted for the other adapter above.

5. Freezing
Never had it freeze on me.

While I like the form factor better on the Carlinkit 2.0 with a sleeker look and removable USB-C to USB-A cord, I think the innards and experience are likely the same. I don't know that for sure, but I've not seen any details that show different specs with the Carlinkit 2.0 compared to the CarPlay2Air/Carlinkit 1.0.

Update: After almost 2 weeks, the CPlay2Air is working as advertised. My wife is very happy with it. When I drove the car the other day, it switched to my phone without any issues.

Make sure to check for firmware updates. Not sure when it came out but there was one when I checked just the other day.
