SX Limited is the only one in Canada that comes with LED tail lights.I was thinking the same. SX in Canada doesn't come with LED taillights. I'll patiently wait until there is some after market or OEM LED ones available for sale.
After re-reading my original reply, it likely wouldn't be as difficult as I made it sound; I must've been feeling pessimistic yesterday, lol! If you're comfortable with rigging up some of the wiring, it probably wouldn't be too difficult of a swap, as long as all the mounting points and cable clearance is the same on both versions (I don't know why they wouldn't be). The only other obstacle you may run into would be flashing issues due to the lower current draw of the LEDs, which could be remedied by load resistors or an LED flasher module. Depending on how the blinkers are wired front to back, you may also want to replace the front incandescent flasher bulbs with LEDs as well to normalize the current and load on the lines. I agree that just replacing the brake light and turn signal bulbs will definitely not have the same affect as the upper model's LED strips in the tail lights, but if worse comes to worse and it isn't feasible to replace the entire housing, LED bulbs will still look better than the stock incandescent.
Hey man. Email me your LED your changed in your LX. I want same setup and want to know how to. @AzuNyanI have a question regarding the turn signals. I had just recently upgraded my headlights and front turn signals into LEDs. And im thinking of doing the same for my tail lights, backup/reverse light, and turn signals into LEDs as well. I was looking up information regarding the lights in the back just so i know what i will have to deal with and ran across this thread, and your reply more specifically.
So, my question is since i have LED front turn signals and currently dont have the LED turn signals yet; will there be an issue regarding the draw output or something? I have an LX btw and im in the US (just in case it matters since it appears that canadian versions are somewhat different than in the US)
If anyone else would like also to chime in, that'd be nice!
EDIT: NEVERMIND. I just called the shop that put LEDs on. And they said that they took care of it. They put resistors or something (i forget the whole process and all the details) to balance everything out
Thanks! Keep us posted!Hello there,
Bear with me, I'm French Canadian often working in English, so I can get some phrases not too bad in writing
I did try swapping incandescent bulbs with LEDs in the tail lights : 4 bulbs in each assembly. 2 tail, 1 brake/tail, and a marker light.
I've got Canadian SX model, which does not have the LED tail lights. Also, turn signal is in the bumper.
My intial plan was to first swap bulbs, and then ask local shop to move turn signal in the tail light.
Swapping worked well, until I pressed the brake pedal. Then I've got this big error message in the dash, the one beeping every minute, saying I should check brake lights. It's kinda hard to get rid of !
Functionality is okay, but I'm tired of seeing this error message.
And No, my bulbs are not Canbus, as I read somewhere it would not change this behaviour, especially for Palissade and Telluride. These models are too recent to be fooled by those lamps. Resistors would have been needed. Don't want to go there, too much work. For me and local shop, maybe would cost more and ... I'm a bit worried about risking my warranty for these part, electricity and all ...
So ... I did order original LED tail lights from Ebay, waiting for them.
Today I'm putting incandescent bulbs back in the housing, and will return led bulbs to Amazon.
Once I get the LED tail lights housings, I'll go to local shop (I already spoke to them they're used to that kind of mod) to can get the turn signal moved up in the tail light, as it's the case for most models in the US.
This will involve resistors, and making sure they're using the right wire to tap into, when they move turn from bumper to tail lights.
So ... this brings me to that question : DOES ANYONE have the WIRING diagram for US MODELS LED TAIL LIGHTS ? I've found something on this forum, but it seems to be showing the middle-east way of using led tail lights ... all functionality in the tail lights, except turn signal. For those who are shopping for LED Tail Lights, those are the 3-pins white connectors (seen in the middle-east) instead of the 4-pins black the US have.
So ... again ... will post news when it's all done. But I guess it will come down to what the other guy said : gave it all to local body shop so they can take care of itTo be continued !
I have the diagrams shared from another member. Send me email and I will get them to you. Please keep us posted as this is something I am wanting to do so bad to our SHello there,
