Order to delivery time

Anyone taking delivery or scheduled to this week after this storm that just swept through last wk?

This is probably not the current schedule. But my car (ordered in Dec 2019) finally got picket up in KFOS on August 23, 2020. Keep in mind we had Covid shutdowns. But once it was picked up in KFOS, it didn't generate a VIN number on Failcat until October 14th. The day the VIN is created is the day they BEGIN building your car at the Westpoint, GA plant (it's true "birth day"). My car was completed on October 21st and loaded on a truck headed for Muncie, Indiana. I was told shipping would take 2-5 days. Guess what?? Car arrived in Muncie at 8 pm that night!! Driver didn't have any other vehicles to deliver, so he drove straight thru to deliver. So my point is, last summer, it was WEEKS after car was picked up in KFOS before build date occurred. That was normal back then. Don't know if that is still true today. But build took 1 week. But I had written a complaint letter to CEO of Kia in Korea AND to CEO of Kia USA complaining of "post-Covid" delays and that people ordering the new (late August 2020,) Nightfall Edition were ordering and getting their cars before me. So my dealer thinks it's possible my letter helped my build happen in 1 week, and for sure it's the reason my car arrived at dealer the same day it was shipped from Westpoint, GA plant. But I had a 2 month delay from KFOS pick up to actual build date. Not sure this helps you, but when you see it on Failcat, it's started it's build that day.

Thanks Kao! I’m just impatient as there have been others with December KFOS dates who already have their vehicles and I don’t even have a VIN yet. I’m trying to be patient, but it’s hard. 😆
 
I got my VIN today!! Current ETA March 12. ❤️

Probably because of the trim level and options your ordered. Your dealer should be able to tell you how many orders are in front of yours. Also ask dealer how many allotments they get a month. And then you can get a guesstimate of when you might see yours. (If 4 people are a head of you, and your dealer gets 2 allotments a month, you will probably not get your order picked up until 3 months from now.)

If there were no orders ahead of me and my dealer had TWO allocations for December does that mean my order went into KFOS or is there more voodoo at work?

Once when the order is accepted, Once when it was completed, and once when it arrived at the dealership. We were originally told to anticipate 10 weeks due to the color and options we had ordered. We have not heard anything yet from our dealership.

Can’t wait to see pics. I basically ordered the same vehicle in the Canadian version. Have to have black interior as only option. You must be excited.....

Ordered thru Muncie, so knew of the waitlist. Just didn’t expect the long wait between the order being picked up in KFOS in Dec and the VIN creation. Original delivery eta after Dec KFOS order was 2.22, new eta is currently 3.12. Some December orders already got their vehicles, so I’m jealous!

I'm hoping I will be able to get my SXP sooner than the ETA of 3 months i was given seeing that some folks are getting theirs in two months or less. I also see that there are others waiting much longer :cautious:

It was a fake out. Salesman emailed me last night apologizing the arrived vehicle is actually not mine. Very similar without running boards. I was like awesome and you suck. Jking. But am really disappointed. Asked to send me the VIN of that car, looked it up and she was right about similarity. So back to waiting, ETA 3/5....

Might be time to consider other options. Not saying cancel the order but at this point I’d be hounding the Failcat cite multiple times a day and looking all
over the Country for a Telly that came close to the one you ordered. Make sure to get one that has all your desired Factory-only options and then you can get all the rest from a dealer.

I would definitely not trust your dealer anymore. At best they are grossly incompetent. Loyalty would be completely lost for me at this point
