  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Thank you both. I have searched the forum topics and posts for Q&A on the ability to use fog lights without turning on head lights. Here is my original post - Fog Light Question

@tclements:

Yeah, that’s not going to happen with the stock configs.

fog lights can be toggled on/off w/ low beams

auto high/low beams will switch them off when auto high beams go on and on again when auto-switched to lows.

Can’t find any stock setting with the stock factory-wired fog lights that will do this.

There are 3rd party fog lights that one could independently wire to a separate control not on the stalk so that in the day time you could theoretically switch on the fogs without the low beam headlights, but i doubt it would ever be a setting on the stalk control because that specific setting isn’t in high demand.

Most people will want the headlights on low beams w/ fog lights which give more edge and close up ground illumination.

Any major issues with your Acadia?
Nothing "major" other than it was getting up in mileage (near 90K) and a few minor things - A/C sometimes wouldn't blow cold, at least once a year we'd get random engine misfire codes. Final straw was the radiator cracked and lost coolant while wife was driving back home from out of town. Thought we blew a head gasket, but got lucky. Fixed it and decided to get rid of it before it was another $1000 repair in a few mos

Thanks for confirming DarkMossJustin. I'm fine with the stock fog lights and happy with how they look, illumination, etc. To me, it's not worth spending extra $ just to have 3rd party fog lights to run without the low beam headlights on. In the mornings & evenings (during twilight hours), the headlights aren't always necessary, so I prefer to use the fogs (along with my DRL's in my Silverado) as they provide enough light (IMO). Plus, I like the look aesthetically of fog lights running without the headlights. Again, it's probably more of an aesthetics thing, but since my 4 yr old pick up truck had this feature, I'd assume these high-end Tellurides would at least have a similar lighting feature. Personally, I think the fog lights with the amber DRL's would look slick!

Wait until you see your Telly. You won't be disappointed.

Walking up to your car in the fog and then clicking the fob to see the amber DRLs :)

Heated steering wheel, heated AND cooled seats (see the "Warm hands, cool backs" thread) and the LEDs + fog lights cutting through the fog (y)
