If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Are you guys excited about the new Kia Carnival? For now I am excited that Kia is keeping the traditional shifter. Unfortunately they don't make it into AWD....I will be itching to trade in my Telly if they do make AWD.....it is a nice looking "MPV" (Multi-Purpose Vehicle)!

Kia seems to be shying away from introducing their rotary shifter in North America… the K5, Sorento, and Carnival all have a rotary shifter in other markets, but just have the standard Kia shifter (just like the Telluride) here. Only exception so far has been the hybrid Sorento models.

The Carnival itself does look great, especially if you go all in and get the SX Prestige. I am a little perplexed that you can’t get black leather on that model, though (it’s either orangey leather or off-white leather).

It's kind of an odd name but I think it looks like the ultimate mini van. I like it...

Nice car, I had a 2017 sedona and a 2019 sedona. The quality is several times higher than telluride. It’s a pity they don’t do AWD. By the way, the full version for Canada costs 48k, which is significantly lower than competitors.

I’m not a minivan guy but this just about doesn’t look like a minivan. I think it will sell well. Second row entertainment seems better done than the offering for the Telly. Wireless Apple Play will probably nab a few buyers.

As long as they’re not getting the SX or SX Prestige… big-screen models don’t have wireless CarPlay or Android Auto.

Must have missed that part

It could be the best car in the world... I'm not buying something called the Carnival.
I agree! I can't stand the name! I mean my life is a circus with 4 kids but I don't need my car reminding me of it! 🤪

The exterior isn't terrible but I don't like it nearly as much as the Telly. The inside of it is pretty amazing, especially on the top trim. My kids would definitely enjoy it. I am sure I would enjoy it! IF I were ever to drive a minivan, this would be the one I would go for. But the name...ugh!!! (n)

Would you buy the Hyundai cousin instead, if it was available? :)

It reminds me of an Easter egg.....it's a no for me.

We went to a dealership today and they had one on the lot. I must say, we were pretty impressed, even though it was the base trim. It did not look like a minivan, more like an Expedition with sliding doors. I even compared the way the two looked online (see below pics). I do agree, the Carnival name is kinda awful. Should have stuck with the Sedona.

What are thoughts around the $56k Carnival Hi-Limousine trim? It’s not bound for the US but that would be a nice Uber ride.

Clean bubble lines and a flat stubby face. Hmmm.

At least it has a better name than "Carnival" :)

Looks practical and I think it will sell to those who are debating between this an a minivan.

Still, Sedona is a far better name for a vehicle and why does this new addition to Kia's fleet not have AWD?

Probably good for getting around town in milder climates, but what about everyone who experiences actual winter, heavy rain, or lives at higher elevations in the mountains?

Rio... great name
Soul... great name, one syllable, easy, great play on words "Seoul/Soul/Sole"
Forte... great name (any musician who can read music will get it)
Sportage... great name
Sedona... great name (it's a place in Arizona, no?)
Sorento... not bad, reminds me misspelled Surriento (Sorrento) in Italy but with one "R" instead of two.
Stinger... awesome name (two syllables and two scorpion stingers around the rear lights) Camarillo High School is home of the Scorpions and I've been seeing a lot of gorgeous Stingers around town :)
Telluride... the best name ever. 3 syllables that became our 2-syllable "Telly".

Carnival? hmmmm.

This and "Seltos" make me wonder.

Is Seltos a place?

Carnival is an annual celebration in North/Central/South America, yes?
It's also a massive fleet of ships for cruises to Mexico/Florida/Bahamas/Jamaica/Caymans/Barbados, right?

Sorento is named after the town in Italy with one less R, so you are dead on. Seltos is supposed to be Speedy + Celtus(Greek Mythology). Sportage = Sports + mAss + prestiGE. Sedona was always called Carnival in Korea. Kia is trying to keep all the names the same across the board(Optima -> K5).

I agree, if Carnival offered AWD/Hybrid/PHEV variety, Kia would sell these faster than Tellurides.

Edit: Surprisingly, Hyundai Staria(above) is getting good media reception in Korea and considered to be a strong competitor to the Carnival. I wonder if these will sell out of pre-orders just like the Ioniq 5 and Sorento did.
